After 35 years, Annabelle Rama stars in her comeback movie, My Monster Mom, co-produced by GMA Films and Regal Entertainment.

Annabelle is cast in this comedy flick along with her real-life daughter, Ruffa Gutierrez. "It's such a joy to be working with my mom for the first time," said Ruffa during the press conference held last June 10 at the Imperial Suites in Quezon City. "This is really a project tailor-made for my mom, and kami namang mga Gutierrez, if it's for our parents or brothers, we let them shine in every which way—hindi kami nagsasapawan. So now, it is my mom's turn to shine, so we let her shine."

In the June 29 episode of Showbiz Central, John "Sweet" Lapus asked Annabelle regarding her comeback movie. "Proud na proud ako. Aarte ako, nakapagdialogue ako ng walang problema."

Award-winning director and scriptwriter Joey Reyes helms this movie, which features a "monsterrific" cast composed of Eugene Domingo, Khryss Adalla, Vangie Labalan, Michelle Madrigal, Rhian Ramos, and Bubbles Paraiso.

My Monster Mom is about a mother who always screams and verbally bashes her three grown-up children. Esme's only daughter, Abby, is played by her real-life daughter, Ruffa Gutierrez. The two sons of the Visayan mother are played by JC de Vera and Mart Escudero—both of whom have different fathers. The young Esme, played by young actress Rhian Ramos, gives her daughter Abby to her brother and sister-in-law. After several years, they are reunited but Abby begins to realize that she and her mother are poles apart.

Portrayed on the big screen as a "monster mom," Ruffa says her mother has a lot of different facets. "It's so funny, kasi in one minute, may kino-close siyang deal para sa mga artista niya. In another minute naman, nagiging artista siya at nagme-memorize siya ng script. In the next minute, sasabihin niya, ‘Ruffa, ano ba yang suot mo!' Nagiging nanay na naman siya. So sa akin, isa siyang superwoman!"

Annabelle, who is fondly called Bisaya by showbiz denizens, told the audience present during the June 29 premiere of the movie, "Bigyan n'yo ng pera ang mga kasamahan n'yo sa bahay para mapanood nila ang pelikulang ito." Her fellow cast members recall Annabelle's generosity while they were shooting this movie. Iwa Moto, who plays Mart Escudero's love interest, narrates, "Sobrang sumasakit ang tiyan namin, either dahil sobrang tawa or sobrang busog dahil nagdadala si Tita Annabelle lagi ng lechon."

My Monster Mom is a movie offering from GMA Films and Regal Entertainment that will definitely tickle viewers' funny bones starting this July 2.
