Isang phenomenal hit sa U.S. box-office ang small-budgeted film na Paranormal Activity. Ito ay considered to be one of the most profitable independent movies ever made dahil mula sa production budget nito na umabot lang sa $15,000 ay kumita na ang pelikula ng higit pa sa $100 million sa U.S. box-office at Canada.

Dahil sa nakakakilabot nitong istorya at sa paraan ng paggawa nito, critics have compared it to other great movies such as Psycho, The Exorcist, Jaws and The Blair Witch Project.

Written, edited and directed by first-timer Oren Peli, unang pinalabas ang Paranormal Activity sa Screamfest Film Festival last October 14, 2007. Pinuri ito ng maraming horror movie fans at mga film critics mula sa iba't ibang panig ng mundo. Sunod itong pinalabas at pinagkaguluhan sa Slamdance Film Festival in Utah noong January 18, 2008. Nabigyan ito ng nationwide release last October 9, 2009.

Ayon nga sa film critic ng Entertainment Weekly na si Owen Gleiberman, ang pelikula ay "frightening...freaky and terrifying" and that "Paranormal Activity scrapes away 30 years of encrusted nightmare clichés."

Released ito locally by Viva International Pictures at may special screening ito on November 25 sa Trinoma, Glorietta 4, SM North EDSA, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Ermita, Eastwood and Gateway. Magbubukas ito on December 2, 2009.
