Hundreds of screaming fans of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson gathered at SM Megamall Cinema 10 last January 26 to catch the premiere night of their latest kilig flick, Paano Na Kaya.

Kim attended the red carpet premiere with her close friends and two sisters while Gerald came with his parents. Kim's sister, Twinkle, congratulated her for achieving another milestone in her career. "I'm happy for her kung ano narrating nya. And I'm here to support her." 


Gerald became emotional when his dad complimented him on the new movie. "I would not have missed this for the world," said his father. Gerald was touched upon hearing his dad's words. His mother also beamed with pride for her son's latest project.

The young matinee idol told the crowd: "Thank you sa inyong lahat. Sana po nag-enjoy kayo. Kay Tita Malou [Santos], thank you po sa opportunity. Ms. Kris [Aquino-Yap], thank you po sa pagpunta, sa suporta. Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng fans na walng sawang sumusuporta, para sa kanila ang movie na 'to."

Kim cheerfully added, "Nagpapasalamat ako sa Kimerald [the collective name for their fans]. Thank you sa pagpunta. Sa mga friends na dumating, thank you. Thank you po sa Star Cinema sa opportunity."

The film's director, Ruel Bayani, was overwhelmed by the huge turnout that night. "Sana yung ganitong suporta hindi lang matatapos ngayong gabi. Sana lahat manood at ma-appreciate ang movie. Siyempre nagpapasalamat ako  kay Mam Malou [Santos], Tita Charo [Santos-Concio]. This is my first film with Star Cinema; may Kim at Gerald pa, happy ako!"


Cast members Zsa Zsa Padilla, Melissa Ricks, Robi Domingo, Bernard Palanca, Rica Peralejo, Cai Cortez, Janus del Prado, IC Mendoza, Jon Avila, Empoy Marquez, Alwyn Uytingco, and Guji Lorenzana graced the premiere night of the movie. Afterwards, they headed to Choice Garden at SM Megamall to hold their cast party.


Some of the celebrity guests spotted at SM Megamall were Angelica Panganiban, Jake Cuenca, Malaysian actress Carmen Soo, Jason Abalos, Maricar Reyes, Aaron Villaflor, Beauty Gonzales, Empress Schuck, Karylle, Jericho Rosales and Gabby Concepcion.

Star Cinema's managing director Malou Santos and channel head Cory Vidanes also graced the premiere night.

Controversial celebrity couple, Kris Aquino and James Yap, caused a stir in the crowd as they walked hand-in-hand on the red carpet. This counts as one of their first public appearances together after Kris asked "space" from her husband James. They brought along Joshua and Baby James.


Kris, who is a self-confessed Kimerald fan, was all praises for Kim and Gerald's acting performance. "Pinakanabilib ako talaga is the ability of Kim to deliver dialogues na both dramatic and funny. Tapos yung emotional rawness na napakita ni Gerald nakakatuwa talaga."

Indie film royalty-turned-mainstream actor Coco Martin was also at the premiere night to support his co-stars in ABS-CBN's primetime TV series, Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo. "Nandito ako para suportahan sina Kim and Gerald. Hindi lang sila katrabaho, parang mga kapatid ko na ang mga yan. Maganda yung pelikula, nakakakilig at nakakaiyak. Ipinakita nila na magaling talaga silang umarte."

Fans screamed and clapped during the kilig moments of Kim and Gerald, especially when the two had a sweet kissing scene.


Some quotable lines in the movie were spoken by Kim's character named Mae. She confessed her love for her best friend by saying: "Bogs, tayo na lang. Sana akin ka na lang." She also told Bogs directly: "Tanga na kung tanga pero mahal kita."


Paano Na Kaya is currently being screened in cinemas nationwide. It was given a "B" rating by Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) and rated GP (General Patronage) by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.


According to a source from Star Cinema, this film earned P12 million during its opening day last January 27, 2010.
