Richard Gutierrez celebrated his 27th birthday last January 21. The GMA-7 actor says he has no other wish but the success of his upcoming movie My Valentine Girls.
This new co-production of GMA Films and Regal Films will feature the Kapuso actor in three different stories. Child star Jillian Ward will also be part of this pre-Valentine offering.
In "Soulmates," he'll portray a taxi driver named Oslec, who becomes a ghost and a lover to Rhian Ramos's character.
Then in "BBFF," Richard will be a public attorney and a good buddy to newbie actress Solenn Heusaff. He will fall in love with her best friend, played by Lovi Poe.
In the last episode titled "Gunaw," Richard will be paired with comedienne Eugene Domingo. The two actors will embark on wacky adventures together as they search for survivors after a worldwide catastrophe.
Although the movie has three different plots, Richard says these are interconnected. "Isang buong kuwento siya na maglalaman ng tatlong kuwento, pero nakatahi ang buong kuwento," he explains.
Richard says it's hard to do multiple characters in one movie, yet it's challenging.
The young actor related, "It was really an effort on my part na ibahin ang character ko sa bawat isang episode. I can say na ginawa kong iba-iba rin ang pag-portray ko sa characters ko.
"It was difficult, challenging. But it was an exciting project for me as an actor, to be able to portray different characters in one film. Kung paano ko babaguhin ang character, it was more exciting and fun and at the same time challenging."
Richard hopes that moviegoers will appreciate My Valentine Girls. He says of this movie, "I can say that's it's more of an experiment. But it's a new concept.
"I think it's also exciting for our audience na may bago tayong ihahandog sa kanila ngayong Valentine's. Very masarap ang feeling, feel-good ang movie namin.
"Ang goal talaga namin is paglabas ng audience sa sinehan, nakatawa sila, nakangiti sila, nakita nila ang masasayang eksena sa pelikula."
Find out how the three stories of My Valentine Girls are interconnected when it opens in cinemas on February 9.
