It took five years for Glaiza de Castro to release her follow-up album after she released her first album at the tender age of thirteen. Now, the girl is officially a lady after celebrating her debut on January 21 last year.

In a PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) interview last December 29 at the Aliw Theater, Glaiza shared her thoughts about her latest album released under Dyna Music.

"[The album is] all original except for two songs. Tinagalog ko yung isa: "How Can I Make You See" by Joey Albert. Tapos in-English ko naman yung "Basta Kasama Kita" ni Dingdong Avanzado." The Tagalized version is the song "Paano," which is the carrier single of her album.

Her self-titled album, which will be formally launched this February, includes the tracks "Ligaw Tingin," "Sana," "Ikaw Lamang ang Gwapo," "As Long as I Am With You," "Sinabi Mo sa Akin," "Sayang Lang," "Paano," "Hold You Once Again," "Someone," "How Can I Make You See," and "Teka Lang."

Her latest album also includes music videos for the songs "Yung "Paano" and "Sinabi Mo" directed by Genghis Jimenez.

PEP curiously asked Glaiza about the two translated songs. When asked to describe how it felt translating songs. she said, "Challenging. Binigay nila yung original. Nagbigay sila ng lyrics. [Bahala ka kung] paano mo masasakto."

In a separate PEP interview last January 5, Glaiza talks more about her album. The mainstay of Asian Treasures singled out "Teka Lang" as her favorite song because "yung beat niya may pagka-'80s."

She continued: "Nagstart noong December 2005. Nag-stop after three to four songs. Inabutan kami ng pag-aayos ng studio. Inabot ng panibagong year. October last year natapos."

MUSICAL INFLUENCES. When asked about her musical influences, Glaiza reveals, "Ever since bata pa lang ako mahilig na akong kumanta.

Other than her parents, the 18-year-old actress-singer also enjoys listening to new wave music and songs by Alicia Keys. "I listen to all types of music. Lahat sila pinapakinggan ko. New wave pinaka-nagustuhan ko. I listen to them but I try to disregard the influences to come up with the original."

DEBUT ALBUM. Glaiza released her debut album when she was only thirteen years old. Entitled "Magbalik Ka," it was released under XAX Music Entertainment. PEP asked her why it took five years for her to release a follow-up album.

"After the first, hindi na kami nag-renew [ng contract]. Hindi na rin ako nagwo-work. Nagka-manager na din ako. Nagconcentrate sa TV shows. Puro TV ginagawa ko. Pinagpapatuloy ko pa rin singing career ko. Meron pa ring stints na kumakanta like sa ASAP."

When asked to compare her two albums, Glaiza pointed out the differences between the two. "Mas defined ngayon. Thirteen years old lang ako nun. Nangangapa pa ako. Mas above your age yung kinakanta mo. Hindi ko pa nararanasan yung mga yun. Hindi ko pa nabibigyang buhay."
