Gabby Concepcion has always been very vocal about his closeness to his father, the late Rollie Concepcion. In fact, the former matinee idol dedicated his second album titled Unforgettable to his father's memory.

Last Saturday, February 20, Gabby was present at the Venice Piazza in McKinley Hills for an autograph signing session of Unforgettable with his fans. The actor-singer was clad in black polo and slacks as he sang classic English and Tagalog songs from the '50s, '60s and '70s such as "Kung Kailangan Mo Ako," "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," "Iisa Pa Lamang" and "Fly Me To The Moon, "Smile," and "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You."

As he was singing, Gabby gamely posed for impromptu pictures with some ladies in the audience. The actor-singer even danced and handed the microphone to some of them so they could join him in singing.

After the performance, Gabby signed autographs, posed for more pictures with fans and had a brief chat with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) to explain why he decided to release a second album.

"'Yong first album ko kasi mga songs from the '80s which I personally handpicked. Itong album naman na ito [contains] songs na nagustuhan ng father ko bago siya namatay. So, sabi ko kung meron akong gustong i-dedicate sa kanya pang-habang buhay ito na yun. Ito yung mga kanta na madalas ko naririning nung bata ako, sabi ko sa sarili ko kantahin ko kaya?"

When PEP asked if he dedicated the song "Iisa Pa Lamang" to someone special, the actor simply said, "Wala, wala ako pinararating na kahit kanino, the songs are based on the favorite songs of my dad.   Of course, two or three songs came from Warner Music and the title Unforgettable, sila rin ang nag-conceptualize. The song "Unforgettable" isn't in the album but it was definitely part of that era that this album is trying to encompass," he explained.

Gabby, who is currently part of ABS-CBN's primetime show Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo, mentioned that he already had his first day of shooting for his upcoming movie with daughter KC Concepcion and Jericho Rosales.

This Star Cinema film will be Gabby's first time to appear in a movie with his firstborn daughter KC. It will also mark his return to the silver screen after appearing in last year's Metro Manila Film Festival entry I Love You Goodbye.

Are there any plans for him to make a reunion movie with ex-wife Sharon Cuneta?  "Hindi ko alam kung matutuloy. There are some speculations but nothing concrete. What will definitely push through is this movie with KC, and I am very happy to be doing a movie with her," he enthused.

Just like the songs included in his album Unforgettable, Gabby Concepcion--despite all his ups and downs--has proven to be a timeless presence in showbiz.
