Charice says that one of her regrets is missing the chance to buy her father the shoes that he wanted. The Filipina singer shed tears as she recalled her father, the late Ricky Pempengco, who was stabbed to death last October 2011.

Dubbed as the "most talented girl in the world" by Oprah Winfrey, international singing sensation Charice Pempengco sang for her kababayans in a special Valentine's Day show titled Charice, One for the Heart.

The Valentine's Day special, which aired on GMA-7 last Sunday, February 12, was interspersed with interviews from Kapuso artists.

World-class performer

Wearing a dark blue shimmering top topped with a leather jacket and exquisitely patterned pants, Charice first appeared onstage onboard a suspended platform that was lowered slowly to the stage. She then started her Valentine concert by belting several catchy tunes like "Crazy in Love," "Telephone" and "Heartbreak Survivor."

The 20-year old singer captivated audiences with her pop star glamour.

"It feels so good to be back home," she told audiences that night. "Sabi nga po nila, 'home is where the heart is.'

Working with international artists

Charice pointed out that in her second album Infinity, released under Warner Music, she had the chance to work with great artists like Jojo, Kara Dioguardi, Jason Derulo, Natasha Bedingfield, Nick Jonas of the Jonas brothers and Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Bruno Mars.

R&B Prince JayR was then introduced to sing "Ikaw Lamang" in stylized R&B fashion that wowed the crowd.

After a quick change of outfit, Charice was seen on stage wearing an asymmetrical blouse as she heated up the stage with "No One Else Comes Close," "Just The Way You Are" and "Pyramid."

Longing for love

Just like any young woman, the petite yet powerful singer longs to find her one true love.

She wistfully remarked, "Pangarap natin lahat. I chose this OPM song [Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin] to honor and celebrate...you know...siyempre, kung makakahanap ako [ng pag-ibig]."

Paying tribute to her parents

In a separate interview with Charice's mom, Raquel Pempengco, she recalled memories about her late husband, Ricky Pempengco.

Charice and Kapuso star Mark Bautista then performed duets of the two songs closest to her parents' hearts: "Sometimes When We Touch" and "Endless Love." As they were singing, confetti made of tiny red hearts literally showered the two singers.

While singing "Endless Love," they moved toward the "suspended stage", and the stage moved upwards, adding drama to the moment. Mark also sang "This I Promise You" to further put everyone in a romantic mood.

Songs for her murdered father

Charice then became emotional as she talked about her father, the late Ricky Pempengco, who was stabbed to death in October 31, 2011. She was in the United States when she learned about her father's untimely demise.  She admitted, "Much has been said about my relationship with my dad who passed away.

"He was a very loving father...Mahal na mahal niya kaming magkakapatid, Mommy ko. Actually yung 'Faithfully' po [which Charice sang earlier in her concert] favorite niyang song."

"One of our relatives told me that bago po mawala ang Daddy ko, he was asking for a pair of shoes.

After speaking, she lit a candle to honor her father.  Charice was teary-eyed as she gave a heartfelt performance of "Dance With My Father."

Asian Tour in March 2012

Before the concert ended, the international singing sensation expressed her gratitude for all the opportunities and blessings that have come her way. I still can't believe how I can be anywhere from doing TV shows like Glee to touring with my mentor, Mr. David Foster, and very soon, I'll be doing my solo Asian tour this March...Yung tour po namin Japan, Philippines, Hawaii, Dubai...Sa lahat po ng Kapuso sa buong mundo, sa Asia lang po, Abangan, ninyo po ako..."

"Sometimes, it can be so overwhelming. It's easy to get lost and let fame overcome you. Pero madali pong labanin, with my mentors, my family, Chasters [her loyal fan club]. Love you. Love you. Those thoughts are in this song called 'Lighthouse.'"

Charice sang the song with gusto, followed by "Before It Explodes," one of the songs in her Infinity album that was written by Bruno Mars.
