"Tatlong Kuwento ni Lola Basyang" to be staged until Dec 14
Watch Ms. Lisa Macuja and veteran TV and radio performer, Luz Fernandez, bring life to Tatlong Kuwento ni Lola Basyang at the Aliw Theater.
Ballet Manila and Manila Broadcasting Company collaborate to stage the return of the legendary Lola Basyang--everyone's favorite storyteller who tells stories to children sitting at the foot of her rocking chair.
Her stories are filled with enchantment, exciting characters, and moral lessons.
In an unprecedented collaboration, Ballet Manila and MBC is serving up a trilogy of Lola Basyang stories two ways--a highly engaging radio drama and a magical, breathtaking ballet production.
Tatlong Kuwento ni Lola Basyang will feature: "Ang Prinsipe ng mga Ibon," "Ang Kapatid ng Tatlong Marya," and " Ang Mahiwagang Biyulin."
Ang Prinsipe ng Mga Ibon (Choreographed by Osias Barroso, Music by National Artists as arranged by Mon Faustino) is a love story about a princess who falls in love with a bird.
Ang Kapatid ng Tatlong Maria (Choreographed by Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, Music by Joey Ayala) is a fantasy set to contemporary neo-ethnic music, with the plot following a hero's journey to different kingdoms in search of his bewitched sisters.
Ang Mahiwagang Biyulin (Choreographed by Tony Fabella, Music by Ryan Cayabyab) is a local Pied Piper tale about a violinist showing how good triumphs over evil.
Lola Basyang features prima ballerina Ms.
Lisa Macuja while veteran TV and radio performer, Luz Fernandez, takes on
the role of the beloved grandmother. Original music by Ryan Cayabyab, Joey Ayala,
and a special arrangement of music by National Artists by Mon Faustino.
Choreography by Lisa Macuja, Osias Barroso, and Tony Fabella.
