Gantimpala Theater opens summer drama workshop

Tony S. Espejo, artistic director of Gantimpala Theater, one of the leading dramatic arts companies in the Philippines today, announces the enrollment of its 33rd Summer Drama Workshop.
The 33rd Gantimpala Theater Summer Drama Workshop, which is slated on April 5 to May 15, 2010, offers a two-in-one course that will teach its participants basic acting and acting for musical theater. Classes will be at the Rehearsal Hall, Open Air Auditorium Building, inside Luneta Park, in Manila.
The basic acting course is a practical application of stage acting with lectures and actual exercises on concentration, spontaneity, improvisation, confidence, body and voice preparation, eight basic efforts, characterizations and script analysis.
The acting for musical theater teaches the participants about creative drama, music, voice and dance exercises that helps them to perform in a musical production.
"The Gantimpala Theater Summer Drama Workshop has been the springboard of many artists. A few of them, we invite to become members of our Actors' Company as junior apprentices. Some will join other theater companies or the entertainment industry. Others will definitely not forget their love-at-first-bite with theater, and this begins their love affair with the dramatic arts that they would carry all their lives," says Espejo.
Classes are every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 1-5 p.m. It is open for teens and young adults. Enrollment begins on March 15. A culminating recital will be showcased on May 15 at the Concert at the Park Open Air Auditorium.
Main facilitator is Roeder Camañag, with guest lecturers. Tuition fee is P5,000.
