Elindro, played by Michael Cayetano, is the architect torn between his past love Lilagretha and his new flame Lilasari
The Magwayen Creative Scholars' Guild of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila will be staging the play Indrapura, which is the second installment of a three-part epic. The two other parts, Episode 1: Ang Prinsipe ng Marulaya (2005) and Episode 3: Bidasari (1999 and 2000), have already been staged.
This love epic was written by Marlon Miguel, Film Academy of the Philippines Screenplay Writing Competition grand winner, and directed by Gawad CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines) awardee John Borgy Danao.
Indrapura chronicles the doomed love affair of Lilagretha and Elindro. When Sulayman decided to adopt his late brother's daughter Lilasari, he did not reveal her true identity—that she is the rightful heir to the throne. Lilagretha, the real daughter of Sulayman, stumbled upon this secret on her 20th birthday, leaving her feeling threatened about her place as Sultana in the kingdom of Indrapura. Her jealousy was sealed once the man she loves, Elindro, becomes attracted to Lilasari. The two sisters become sworn enemies.
Aided by the evil sorceress, Tarsila, Lilagreta attempts to kill her sister. When the plot fails, Lilagreta is sentenced to death. Despite her sister's attempt on her life, Lilasari finds it in her heart to forgive Lilagretha and help her secure her freedom.
Indrapura is the tenth major production of Magwayen Creative Scholars' Guild of PLM.
Performances: December 9, 2006; 10 AM, 1 PM, 4 PM
