As part of their celebration of Mother’s Day, Kris Aquino featured two mothers who agreed to cook and share their recipes on the show.
Grace Ibuna appeared on Kris TV
with her daughter Garrie while Miss Universe 2011 third runner up Shamcey Supsup was accompanied by her mother, Merci.
In the May 9 episode of the ABS-CBN morning show, Grace demonstrated how to cook Hainanese chicken.
Garrie proudly said about her mother: “Magaling magluto si Mommy, lalo na ang adobo niya saka sinigang.”
Grace revealed that she was 23 years old when she gave birth to Garrie, her daughter with former matinee idol Gabby Concepcion. Garrie is the half-sister of TV host-actress KC Concepcion.
The 23-year-old recording artist describes her mother as her “best friend.” Garrie recalled: “I grew up with her and she raised me alone. Talagang kami ang naging close.”
Kris asked Garrie: “Now that you’re establishing a relationship with your dad, Gabby Concepcion, nagseselos ba ang mom mo?”
When asked to give her message to her mother, Garrie said: “Mom, first and foremost, thank you for raising us well and for being there for us. Whatever happens, whatever your decision will be in the future, we will always be here for you. We love you so much.”
Grace also expressed her gratitude for having a dependable daughter.
“I’ve been so blessed having Garrie as my eldest daughter. Hindi ko alam kung paano ko siya napalaki ng ganyan. I wish I could do it again with my two pther kids. When I went to London, tumayo si Garrie na nanay. [I was in London] for five months and a half but before that, we were going back and forth.
“Every time I would leave, I would leave everything to Garrie: my two kids, the house. [Garrie] is very responsible.”
It will be recalled that Grace’s partner, Negros Occidental Representative Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo died in London last January 25.
The businesswoman also praised her daughter by saying: “Saka masunurin yan, hindi sumasagot, hindi palaban. Hindi siya ma-gimik. She’s a blessing. She’s a gift.”
Grace also mentioned that her two other children--Jose Miguel, 15, and Ma. Rafaelle Grace, 13--look up to her eldest daughter. “They love her, they adore her,” said the proud mother.
