With her strong fan base and blockbuster TV shows and movies, Kim Chiu can be considered one of the most successful young actresses in her generation today.

Showbiz Inside Report hostCarmina Villarroel had a nice chat with Kim regarding her career six years after winning Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Season 1. The July 28 episode of SIR also focused on Kim’s family as well as her controversial love life.

When asked about her relationship with her siblings, Kim admitted: “Sobra kaming close lalo na kami lalo na ngayon. After all na nangyari sa buhay namin. As in sobra kaming bonded.” 

ON FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES
 

Dubbed as the Chinese Cutie fromCebu, Kim recalled that after her parents’ separation, a string of financial difficulties besieged the Chiu household.

“Lumaki na ako na isa-isa ang nakikita ko. Minsan naandiyan si Papa. Minsan naman si Mama...Yearly, naglilipat kami. Ang mga kamag-anak ng Papa namin ang nagpapa-aral sa amin. Kung saan sila nakatira, dun kami mag-aaral.”

After some time, Kim and her siblings stayed with their lola inCebu. She explained, “Siyempre Chinese siya, gusto niyang pag-ipunan ang gusto namin bilhin. Hindi basta yung hingi ng hingi.”

Kim recalled that “every Saturday, nagwo-work ako sa tindahan ng tita ko. Grade six, high school…taga-bag lang [lagay ng gamit].

FINDING LOVE INSIDE THE PBB HOUSE.
 

The ABS-CBN actress recounted how she became a tenant of the Pinoy Big Brother house. “Actually yung mga friends ko ang nag-aya sa akin na sumali sa PBB. Tapos, yung sinubukan ko…”

While being part of this reality show, Kim met Gerald Anderson, with whom she shared a very close relationship.

She describes Gerald, her first love, by saying, “Naging matalik ko siyang kaibigan sa loob [ng PBB house] kaya nagkakasundo kami. Bisaya. Lagi kaming magkasama, magkatrabaho…naging close friends kami.”

Kim and Gerald’s partnership blossomed onscreen and off screen. The Kimerald tandem is considered a phenomenal love team that has attracted legions of loyal fans.

The lovely actress was then asked to describe how she falls in love. “Sobra, sobra,” admitted Kim. “Yung parang wala ka nang pagsisihan dahil nagawa mo na ang lahat…”

The successful love team ended after several years with a very public break-up.

Carmina asked Kim how she was able to handle the situation.

Kim recalled, “Hindi ko alam kung paano ko na-handle yung ganung problema…Malaking bagay yung Star Magic family ko at yung mga friends.”

She admitted that she felt afraid that fans would not support her without Gerald.

“Iba naman yung love team na trabaho at ang personal na buhay.

“From 2006 – four years, may love team ako. Hindi ako bumitaw. Kinabahan ako na baka mawala yung mga fans. Ako na lang mag-isa. Baka wala ng tao. Pero hindi. Naandun pa rin naman sila.”
