A total of thirteen finalists will represent the Philippines at the 12th Asian Television Awards (ATA) to be held in Singapore this November.

Five programs, two hosts and two comedians have been nominated from GMA-7 while three television programs and one drama performance by an actress in a show come from ABS-CBN.

The winners of the 2007 Asian Television Awards will be announced at the awarding ceremony at the Suntec Convention Hall in Singapore on November 29, 2007.

It was reported in PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last August 23 that Bandila made history as the first Philippine newscast to be nominated in the International Emmy Awards this year. The program's coverage of "The Subic Rape Case Promulgation" is the same episode that earned a nomination in the ATA. Unfortunately, ABS-CBN lost to the "Lebanon Crisis" episode of BBC News (BBC United Kingdom).

The two news programs of the Kapamilya Network—Bandila and TV Patrol World—are competing in the Best News Program category of this year's ATA. GMA-7's 24 Oras distinguished itself for the coverage of "Super Typhoon Milenyo."

ABS-CBN's noontime game show Pilipinas Game KNB? bagged a nomination for Best Game or Quiz Program, while Gina Pareño was recognized for her performance in the episode "Jail" (Rehas) aired in Maalaala Mo Kaya for Best Drama Performance by an Actress category. This MMK episode won the Special Award in Drama in the recently concluded Seoul Drama Awards.

Michael V won the Best Comedy Performance by an Actor for three years in a row (2004, 2005 and 2006). This year, the comedian is pitted against Bubble Gang co-host Ogie Alcasid.

Launched in 1996, the Asian Television Awards usually gives out honors for over 30 categories including Best Documentary Program, Best News Program, Best Cinematography, and Best Current Affairs Presenter.
