PRESS STATEMENT FROM GMA-7:
"GMA Afternoon Prime takes pride in being the cradle of drama, where all the dramatic stars of the network are born.
"Kakambal ni Eliana is a story about a girl who was born with a snake attached on her back. Eliana and the snake share one spinal cord. The snake comes out from her back and wraps itself around her hand every time she experience extreme emotions like sadness or anger. She will grow up alone, not knowing anything about the world and not knowing anything about her family because she was kept hidden inside a basement.
"However, when she was able to get out of the basement, she will discover new things and meet people that will eventually change her life.
"Kim Rodriguez plays the role of Eliana. Eliana grew up without a family as she was left to tend for herself in a small isolated room, in their family’s shop. The only thing she knows and talks to is her twin snake. She longs for a family and seeks someone who will love and accept her. Eliana is kind, patient and is always ready to help others who are in need.
"Kim is GMA’s next leading lady. She used to be a nameless in GMA’s drama programs wherein she did not even had lines, she was just a passerby. Her career’s turning point was when she auditioned for Reel Love Presents Tween Hearts wherein the program took in new cast members to add to the current roster of stars led by Barbie Forteza, Bea Binene etc.
"Her next projects were Sinner or Saint, Biritera, Coffee Prince. In Coffee Prince, she was able to deliver emotional as well as comical dialogues and this gave a glimpse of her wide range of acting capability. Kim, who is now 18 years old, grew up with her lola. Her mother is an OFW and her father has never really recognized her as his ‘child.’
"In most of her growing up years, she lived with her lola in a rented house. She used to go to school but had to stop because of budgetary constraints. While she was taping for Reel Love back in 2011; her lola died.
"Being given the role of Eliana, at this point; is a bittersweet victory for Kim because her lola, whom she shares all her victories and defeats with, is no longer around.
"Kristoffer Martin plays the role of Gabo. Gabo grew up in the streets. Even though he did not finish school, he is street-smart. He will do anything to survive. Gabo is the one who will help and be Eliana’s friend when she finally got out of isolation. He was not even scared when he found out that Eliana has a twin snake. He stood by Eliana and will eventually fall in love with her.
"Kristoffer is one of the up and coming matinee idols of GMA. At such a young age of 19; he has already manifested maturity in acting. He has shown depth in character portrayal. His acting in his movies has also been commended.
"Enzo Pineda plays the role of Julian. Julian is a budding photographer. He belongs to a loving family. He is quiet and reserved but expresses himself through his photographs. Julian has a girlfriend named Margarita but later on he falls in love with Eliana as well.
"Enzo has topped the GMA Artist Center workshops where he had actively been a part of. Workshop facilitator and director Maryo J. De Los Reyes speaks well of him. Enzo is a living example that excelling in workshops is instrumental in an actor being cast in prime projects.
"Lexi Fernandez plays the role of Margarita. She is a model and she is also Julian’s girlfriend. She grew up spoiled and is used to getting everything she wanted. Margarita always needs to be the best. She is very competitive and she’ll do anything just to get what she wants. She will eventually hate Eliana because of Julian’s display of affection towards her.
"Lexi, at a young age, already manifest both vulnerability and excellent sensibility in acting. She exudes sensuality – young but sexy.
"Kakambal ni Eliana will be directed by Roderick Lindayag, the director behind the high rating programs Sana ay Ikaw na Nga, Hiram na Puso, Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin.
"Kakambal ni Eliana airs April 15, 2013 on GMA Afternoon Prime."
