The four finalists of The Voice Kids are Darren Espanto, Juan Karlos Labajo, Lyca Gairanod and Darlene Vibares.


Team Sarah has two representatives in the grand finals of The Voice Kids.

Lyca Gairanod and Darren Espanto will represent coach Sarah Geronimo in the upcoming finale of ABS-CBN's reality singing competition.

As for coach Bamboo, Juan Karlos Labajo will be his representative while Darlene Vibares will be part of Team Lea Salonga.

Last weekend, the six semi-finalists of The Voice Kids performed live at Resorts World Manila as the public showed support for the contestants through text and online votes.

Tonton Cabiles Jr. and Edray Teodoro were the eliminated The Voice Kids contestants.

During the opening number, coaches Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo gave an energetic rendition of Francis Magalona’s hits including “Meron Akong Ano,” “Mga Kababayan Ko” and “Ito ang Gusto Ko.”

For the semifinal round, Darlene shed tears as she performed Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" in memory of late grandfather.

JK (Juan Karlos) serenaded the crowd with Michael Buble's "Sway."

Lyca chose to sing the OPM song "Pangarap Na Bituin" by Sharon Cuneta.

Tonton was described by Coach Lea as having an "angelic" voice before he performed his rendition of "One Day In Your Life" by the young Michael Jackson.

Edray chose to perform "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera.  

Darren's piece for the semifinals was Whitney Houston's "One Moment In Time."


Meet the Top 4 of The Voice Kids:


LYCA: FROM SCAVENGER TO SINGER. Lyca is a nine-year old kid from Tanza, Cavite.

In February 2013, Cherrlyn Argete uploaded a video of Lyca singing Willie Revillame's "I Love You."

The video titled "Lyca Jane Gairanod The Singing Street Children" indicates: "She's only 8 years old and she does junk collecting for a living. Pumupunta siya dito sa bahay upang humingi ng mga bote at pagkain. Habang nakain sila ng kapatid niya, naririnig namin siyang kumakanta so naisipan naming pakantahin siya."

Lyca's mother is a junk scavenger while her father is a fisherman.

In a previous interview on The Voice Kids, Lyca talked about the struggles she faced in the past.

"Kami po ay nangangalakal pag wala pong pasok. Ang ginagawa po namin, nanghihingi ng mga bote. Minsan, pinapakanta, binibigyan ng pera. Minsan, pagkain.

"Hindi naman po ako pinipilit ng ng nanay ko mangalakal, pero po ginugusto ko lang po para magkabaon po kami."






DARREN: CANADIAN CROONER. During the blind auditions, both Sarah and Bamboo wanted to have Darren Espanto on their teams.

However, the 12-year-old boy from Calgary, Canada chose to be with Team Sarah.

Darren has joined several singing competitions in the past. When he was ten yers old, he auditioned for the Canadian reality singing competitition The Next Star. He emerged as the youngest of the Top 6 finalists in YTV's The Next Star.

In addition, he was hailed as Canada’s Pinoy Singing Sensation grand champion in 2011.






JUAN KARLOS: FIL-GERMAN FULFILLS DREAM. JK or Juan Karlos Labajo joined The Voice Kids to fulfill the dream of his late mother.

The 14-year-old boy dedicated his piece at the blind auditions to his mom who died last November 17, 2013.

In his interview, the young boy who hails from Cebu City disclosed: “Sumali po ako kasi pangarap po ito ng mama ko.

“Noong pinanganak ako, iniwan ako ng tatay ko. Never [did I see him]. No connection po.”

Juan Karlos, who is under the care of his uncle, also revealed that he never met his biological father who is German.






DARLENE: EMOTIONAL GIRL FROM ANTIPOLO. Darlene is the 10-year-old daughter of a tricycle driver from Antipolo.

During the blind auditions, Darlene was a three-chair turner as all three coaches wanted to have her on their respective teams.

In the end, the girl who wowed them with Alicia Keys' "Girl On Fire" chose Lea.

For the battle round, Darlene cried when she beat fellow contenders Karla Cruz and Marianne Interino when they performed Katy Perry's "Firework."

Darlene also became emotional during the semi-finals as she remembered her late grandfather while singing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You."


 



Hosted by Luis Manzano and Alex Gonzaga, The Voice Kids grand finals will take place this weekend, July 26-27.

The Voice Kids grand champion wins P1 million, one-year recording contract from MCA Universal, house and lot, home appliance showcase, musical instrument showcase and P1 million worth of trust fund.
