Seven TV shows are vying for the Best Primetime TV Series award in the 23rd Star Awards for Television. ABS-CBN shows Kahit Isang SaglitTayong Dalawa, Iisa Pa Lamang, May Bukas Pa, and Eva Fonda will compete against GMA-7 shows Codename:  Asero and Luna Mystika.

Sa ika-23 taon ng Star Awards for Television 2009, muling pararangalan ng mga bumubuo ng Philippine Movie Pres Club (PMPC) ang mga palabas pang-telebisyon na nagmarka sa isipan at kaaliwan ng Pilipino sa makabagong panahon.

Nakatakdang ganapin ang gabi ng parangal ng 23rd PMPC Star Awards for Television 2009 sa November 29, 7 pm, sa Pagcor Grand Theater, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Paranaque City.

Bilang pagpupugay sa mga kilalang personalidad sa industriya ng telebisyon, ang mga Special Awards ay ipinagkakaloob ng PMPC sa mga sumusunod:

Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award: Mr. Johnny Manahan

Excellence in Broadcasting Lifetime Achievement Award: Vice President Noli de Castro

Sa taong ito ay may natatanging pagkilala ang PMPC Star Awards for Television sa itinuturing na institutional program (daily noontime Variety Show) na nagkamit ng labinlimang (15) parangal o 'Star' trophy, bilang pinaka-mahusay, sa loob ng dalawampu't tatlong taon ng pamamahagi ng Star Awards for TV mula noong 1987.


Ang PMPC Star Awards for Television 2009 Hall of Fame ay ipinagkakaloob sa EAT BULAGA  (ng TAPE, INC.), kasalukuyang isinasahimpapawid sa GMA-7 bilang daily noontime variety show.
