President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo remains controversial in her remaining days in the Malacañang Palace. The outgoing leader of the country is now under fire due to recent developments in her government.
This Tuesday (April 6), news anchor Ricky Carandang will unravel the mystery in the so-called midnight madness in the Palace on The Correspondents.
With the national elections fast approaching, people are wary about the happenings in the government which could affect it or even stop the polls from pushing through.
Recently, Lt/Gen. Delfin Bangit was appointed by Arroyo as the leader of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, a move which supposedly irked other generals. Now, Arroyo is said to be also pushing to appoint a new Supreme Court Chief Justice, which is prohibited by the Constitution within two months before a national election.
Aside from midnight appointments, the government is also being hit for the Commission on Elections' lack of preparation for the first automated election in the country. The power shortage in Mindanao is also seen as a threat to the integrity of the polls.
Join Ricky Carandang as he finds out if these issues are really part of a big plan to extend Arroyo's term or are they just pure coincidences this Tuesday (April 6) on The Correspondents, after Bandila on ABS-CBN.
