The Big Brother franchise in the Philippines has shown viewers a lot of memorable moments and controversial scenes for the past five years. And most of these were compiled and shown in a TV special dubbed High Five: The Big Five Years of Pinoy Big Brother.

It was aired last night, June 27, just one day after the successful culmination of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash 2010. (CLICK HERE to read related article)

Select housemates from all editions of PBB came together for the reunion wherein they engaged in fun games for cool prizes and looked back on  memorable and controversial moments captured on camera.

The TV special started with a presentation showcasing the highlights of Pinoy Big Brother, which first aired on August 21, 2005.  The  former tenants of the PBB house then danced to the tune of PBB theme songs, "Pinoy Ako"/ "Kabataang Pinoy" / "Sikat ang Pinoy."  The ex-housemates were divided into three groups: the regular season, the teen edition and celebrity editions.

WHEN TASKS BECAME GAMES. Before each game, the  ex-housemates talked to Big Brother inside the confession room and updated Kuya about the latest events in their life and in their career.

For the reunion special, the alumni competed in three games.

In the first game, the levitation-type Buhat N'yo, Tusok Ko,  one member wore a helmet with spikes and four other members were supposed to lift him/her up in order to prick balloons tied in a pabitin.

The team of PBB Season 1 was composed of Fourth Big Placer Uma Khouny, Third Big Placer Cass Ponti, Second Big Placer Jason Gainza and Big Winner Nene Tamayo and the person wearing the helmet was Teen Clash  of 2010 Second Big Placer Ryan Bang.

The team of PBB Season 2 was composed of Fourth Big Placer Gee-Ann Abrahan, Third Big Placer Wendy Valdez, Second Big Placer Mickey Perz and Big Winner Beatriz Saw. Celebrity Edition Season 2 Fourth Big Placer Will Devaughn wore the helmet but they could hardly pop any balloons. For this reason, they lost the game and  they were forced to jump into the swimming pool as punishment.

In the second game, Hiluhan Hulaan, clues about ex-housemates were given by host Toni Gonzaga and the team representatives were asked to turn around five times before running to press the buzzer and  identify the person being talked about.

The third game was Char-char-ades. The person acting out the word(s) to be guessed would be hidden  by a cardboard wall and in order to be seen, he/she must jump constantly on a trampoline.

In the end, the PBB Celebrity Edition 1 team, represented by  Mich Dulce, Third Big Placer Bianca Gonzales, Second Big Placer John Prats, and Big Winner Keanna Reeves won the games. They won 22-inch Sony LCD TV, Sony Digicam, Sony Vaio Laptop and TechnoMarine watch.

Other ex-housemates present in the reunion were Fifth Big Placer Tibo Jumalon, Fourth Big Placer Johan Santos, Third Big Placer Jason Francisco, Second Big Placer Paul Jake Castillo, and Big Winner Melai Cantiveros from PBB  Double Up.

Other competitors from the Teen Editions were Aldred Gatchalian and Matt Evans, Third Teen Big Placer Gerald Anderson and Teen Big Winner Kim Chiu from Teen Edition Season 1; Josef Elizalde, Fourth Big Placer Beauty Gonzales, Third Big Placer Nicole Uysiuseng and Big Winner Ejay Falcon from Teen Edition Plus; Sixth Big Placer Bret Jackson II, Fifth  Big Placer Ivan Dorschner, Fourth Big Placer Devon Seron, Third Big Placer Fretzie Bercede, and Big Winner James Reid from the recently concluded Teen Clash of 2010; and ex-celebrity housemates Yayo Aguila, Victor Basa and Big Winner Ruben Gonzaga from PBB Celebrity Edition 2. Celebrity houseguest Mariel Rodriguez also took part in the said games.

In between games, the producers aired presentations that showed highlights of PBB editions in the  past five years. One of the segments referred to the PBB house as the "Pagamutan ni Big Brother"  since some of the housemates  underwent medical procedures during their stay. It will be remembered that  Alex Anselmuccio of PBB Teen Edition Plus agreed to have his circumcision inside the closely monitored house. It was also shown that Robert Woods of PBB Season 2 conquered his fear of the syringe needle in a blood-letting drive. PBB also turned into Pinoy Big Barberya as ex-housemates were seen sporting different hairstyles as well as the Pinoy Big Beauty Salon as ex-housemates enjoyed pampering during their stay.

Controversies that arose in PBB's different editions were also  highlighted that night. Among them were  the confession of  Celebrity Season 1 housemate Rustom Padilla admitting his sexual preference and ex-celebrity housemate Baron Geisler's numerous intoxications in Celebrity Edition 1; ex-housemates Gee Ann and Wendy's clash, and Bea and Maricris' confrontations, the controversial luau party in Season 2; Takfan Mo Fan Dance in Double Up; and ex-Pinoy teen housemates rap in Teen Clash of 2010.

Another highlight of the show was the song numbers from PBB Love Teams Bretzie (Bret and Fretzie), Melason (Melai and Jason) and Kimerald (Kim and Gerald).

As the reunion show neared its end, Kuya gave his final message of thanks to the housemates.

"[Ako] ay nagpapasalamat sa muli ninyong pagpunta sa aking bahay. Natutuwa ako na pagkatapos ninyong manirahan dito, kayo ay naging matagumpay sa inyong mga pangarap. Bawat isa sa inyo ay may kontribusyon kung bakit sa loob ng limang taon, ang mga Pilipino ay nanatiling nakatutok sa aking bahay. Sa pagbabahagi ng inyong sarili, ipinakita ninyo ang galing at halaga ng isang Pinoy. Dahil diyan, I am very proud of all of you, my beloved housemates," said Kuya.

The housemates wouldn't believe this and Kuya told them: "Biro lang!"

Kuya then proposed a toast for his guests: "Limang taon ang ating pinagsamahan, limang taon ng saya, lungkot, pagmamahalan at pagpapakatotoo. It has been a wonderful five years, at ikinalulugod ko na makilala kayong lahat. Cheers to all of you, my beloved housemates!"

To this, Melai replied: "Nagpapasalamat po kami sa 'yo, Big Brother, dahil napili mo kaming maging housemates mo, at [sa] mga opportunities, at ang mga friendship..."

Kim added: "In behalf of all the housemates, Big Brother, maraming, maraming, maraming salamat sa pagpapatuloy sa amin dito, sobrang proud namin, maraming salamat po talaga."
