Piolo Pascual took time from his hectic schedule to visit patients at the Perpetual Succor Hospital in Sampaloc, Manila last October 14 for the taping of ABS-CBN's 2010 Christmas station ID.

This year's theme, "Ngayong Pasko, Magniningning ang Pilipino," can be considered a continuation of last year's campaign titled "Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko," which emphasized sharing with fellow Filipinos. This was symbolized by a small lighted parol which ABS-CBN stars passed on to their kababayans. This time, the stars use parols with postitive ideas written on them such as honesty and pag-ibig. During his visit, Piolo said that taping for this station ID signals the official start of the holiday season, "because you feel the Christmas spirit."

He added, "Of course, this is the better way to start it, by giving gifts and making people happy. Nakakatuwa because it's the start of -ber months and ang dami nang activities na pwedeng gawin natin para makapagbigay saya tayo. And to ABS-CBN, nakakatuwa kasi you represent them and you make people happy."

After taping his segment of the video, Piolo visited the hospital's children's ward to give away gift packs from ABS-CBN Foundation.

"I'm really looking forward to station ID yearly.  I think this is the most personal station ID ng ABS-CBN because hindi siya staged. These are real people, real patients, real situation so it makes it more personal and, of course, really true," Piolo told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media present during his short visit to the hospital.

Moments after Piolo left the venue, Gretchen arrived at the same hospital to tape her segment in ABS-CBN's station ID. This is the second time for the Magkaribal actress to participate in the Kapamilya Network's Christmas station ID.

"Nakakatuwa at mainit ang pagtanggap sa amin," said Gretchen, who received loud screams from fans who were waiting for her outside the hospital.

The actress also pointed out that this kind of project gives celebrities an opportunity to give back to the public who continue to support their showbiz careers.

"Nagpapasalamat din kami na nabigyan kami ng pagkakataon na makasama rito para makilala ang mga pasyente na nandito. At least, nakapaghatid kami ng kaunting saya at nabigyan kami ng chance na gawin 'yon para sa kapwa Pilipino," she says.

After a few takes, Gretchen went to the maternity ward to visit new moms in the hospital.  Like Piolo, she also distributed gift packs from ABS-CBN Foundation before leaving the venue.

For Piolo, being part of this project and seeing people smile is a priceless moment. 

"It's overwhelming na nakakatulong ka and kahit papaano nakaka-ease ng hirap nila o ng pagod or kung anuman ang nararamdaman nilang sakit. I guess, hindi mo mababayaran ang nararamdaman ng isang tao kapag nakakapagbigay ka ng saya."

See around 200 Kapamilya celebrities take part in this year's Christmas 2010 station ID of ABS-CBN. It will be aired for the first time in the November 4 episode of TV Patrol.
