According to director Jon Ilagan (below, left, with director Laurenti Dyogi), the sanctions given to the four Pinoy Dream Academy scholars—namely, (above, from left) Irish Fullerton, Jay-R Siaboc, Chad Peralta, and Panky Trinidad—were for "smoking and drinking." Because of this, he added, the four have been told to get "much needed rest."

Convenient explanation?
After the promotion, he can go if he wants to."
As for Irish, sinabi ni Direk Jon na: ‘Hindi pa talaga pirmado ang kontrata ni Irish sa Warner bago sila umalis papuntang States. Pagbalik nila at nangyari na ang lahat, hindi na itinuloy ng Warner ang pagpirma sa kanya, and we have nothing to do with it."
We asked Direk Jon kung bakit na-retain sina Yeng and Ronnie sa ASAP '07. Nasa peak naman ng promotion si Ronnie for his Ngiti debut album from Universal Records.
No answer on Jay-R's case na may debut album din namang ipu-promote, or that of Cebalo band, and even Chad na nakalabas na nga rin ng debut album.
Underpaid scholars? The last issue we were interested in ay ang balita/comment ng ibang PEP readers na underpaid ang PDA scholars. Nabanggit namin kay Direk Jon that one PEP reader mentioned a hatian of 10-90, 10 percent sa scholars at 90 percent sa DBP.
A certain "exbeat" posted this comment in PEP on May 3: "direk lauren dyogi should be blamed for this! 90% ang komisyon ng production niya? 10% lang ang napupunta sa mga talent?! i have met and talked to the Final 6 ng ilang beses... may malalim na dahilan kung bakit 'nagwala' ang mga ito. i must say na true artists do not conform most of the time sa ipinagagawa sa kanila.
"Definitely not true," mariing tanggi ni Direk Jon.
"In four months time, we produced seven albums, one multi-platinum [Salamat], one platinum [PDA Compilation Volume 1], two golds [PDA Compilation Volumes 2 and 3], at maggu-gold na rin ang isa pa [Hiling ni Jay-R]. They have regular shows, provincial tours, out-of-the-country tours. Paano sila makakapagreklamo na maliit lang ang nakukuha nila with so many jobs we gave them in a short time?
May isa pang gustong linawin si Direk Jon about the setup of DBP: "Dream Big is ABS-CBN. Therefore, it is ABS-CBN ang nagpadala sa PDA sa ibang bansa.
"Ang kontrata nila [PDA scholars] is with DBP, but only for the first two years for the top three scholars at one year naman for the rest. After their contract, ibibigay namin sila sa Star Magic [talent arm of ABS headed by Johnny Manahan], at may first option ito whether they want to continue the contract or not."
Ibig sabihin nito, after their "recommended rest," puwede silang bumalik kung gusto pa nila.
In other news, this Sunday, May 6, ipalalabas sa The Buzz ang closed-door taped apology nina Jay-R at Irish sa DBP.
