Bagama't nagsisimula na ang pre-production ng Japan live action series turned GMA-7 soap na Shaider—at may attached cast na ito na sina Marky Cielo as Shaider, Kris Bernal as Annie, Jay Manalo, Iwa Moto, Bianca King, Arci Munoz, Isabel Oli, and possibly Raymart Santiago—balitang mauuna muna ang serialization ng Mga Mata ni Angelita.

Originally a continuing radio show brought to the big screen in 1978 by the late Julie Vega at the height of her Anna Lisa popularity, Mga Mata ni Angelita is a story of a blind girl who was given the eyes of the Virgin Mary.

Si Kristal Reyes ang gaganap na Angelita. Originally using her real name Maria Jolina Reyes, sumikat siya nang gumanap siyang batang Kristal sa Bakekang. Dahil dito, kung kaya't in-adopt niya na rin ang kanyang character name when she was given her first afternoon soap, ang Princess Charming, with Charming Lagusad, na tulad niya ay ginamit din ang character name niya from her original name Eunice.

Hindi pa buo ang cast ng Mga Mata ni Angelita ngunit narinig naming malamang na makasama sina Marvin Agustin, Mark Herras, at Isabel Oli na pegged na rin for the Shaider series as one of the female assistants of the lead villain.

In a special role of the Virgin Mary is Lucy Torres-Gomez.

Kung matutuloy, malamang na ang Mga Mata ni Angelita ang papalit sa Asian Treasures na magtatapos ng June 18.
