Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett will be coming over to Davao City to shoot the film I Come With The Rain, according to reporters based in the area.
Film producers of the said film recently went to Mt. Diwalwal to scout the place in preparation for the actual filming. The producers also made all the necessary arrangements like coordinating with local officials and discussing security details. There are plans to hire some 200 local residents to serve as film extras; they'll be paid P300 each.
Josh Harnett, who starred in blockbuster films such as Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down, Sin City, and Hollywood Homicide, will play the role of a Los Angeles cop-turned-detective. This private eye comes to the Far East in search of a Chinese billionaire's son, but he's preoccupied with the memory of a past encounter with a serial killer—the reason he decided to quit the police force.
Diwalwal Barangay Captain Francisco Franco Tito gladly confirmed the news to Sun Star Davao and was in fact one of the local authorities who accommodated the production crew during their visit.
The producers were reportedly happy with the location and even promised to come back to film three to four more movies. One of the proposed movies is said to be about Diwalwal, which would chronicle the location's colorful history.
Bgy. captain Tito says the faith shown by the foreign producers only proves that the area is peaceful, secure, and conducive for fruitful endeavors.
"They said many foreigners want to come because they know the area to be peaceful," remarked Tito.
Talking to MindaNews, Tito proudly mentioned that the film will be shown in Cannes and is due for international release.
Vietnamese director Trin Anh Hung (The Vertical Ray of the Sun, The Scent of Green Papaya, and Cyclo) will direct the movie. Korean superstar Byung-hun Lee will star with Josh Hartnett.
