May 14-page article sa August 2007 issue ng YES! magazine tungkol sa "kisscandal" between Gretchen Barretto and John Estrada entitled "A Scandal Waiting for an Explanation."
In the said article na isinulat ng mismong YES! editor-in-chief na si Jo-Ann Maglipon, nabanggit ang tungkol sa last will ng longtime partner ni Gretchen na si Tonyboy Cojuangco. Na-mention ito dahil just recently ay sumailalim si Tony sa isang maselang throat operation sa Amerika at ayon mismo kay Gretchen ay "muntik na" si Tonyboy.
Thankfully ay naging successful ang operasyon sa bilyonaryong businessman. But according to one law firm na source ng YES!, should anything happen to Tony, ganito raw magiging hatian ng kanyang property: 1/4 para sa surviving legitimate spouse ni Tony na si Denise Yabut-Cojuangco, 1/2 sa legitimate daughter nitong si Patricia Cojuangco, 1/8 sa anak nito kay Gretchen na si Dominique as the illegitimate child, at ang natitirang 1/8 ay mapupunta sa anumang beneficiary of choice ni Tonyboy.
Kapansin-pansin na hindi na-mention ang pangalan ni Gretchen sa nasabing last will at tila lumalabas na wala siyang anumang magiging share kung sakaling paghahatian na ang mga yaman at ari-arian ni Tony.
[EDITOR'S NOTE: Ito ang hatian na itinatalaga ng batas. Ang partner na hindi legally married ay di maaaring makatanggap ng mana dahil ang pagbigay dito, ayon sa law firm, ay pag- legitimize ng isang illegitimate relationship. Ito ay sa mata ng batas.
[Ngunit totoo rin na sa tunay na buhay, ang ari-arian ng isang mayamang indibidwal ay maaring nailagay na niya sa pangalan ng kaniyang partner habang siya ay buhay pa. Maari ring nasa pangalan na ng isang korporasyon o nakalagay na sa isang off-shore bank, gaya ng nasa Cayman Islands, na hindi nagre-reveal ng names of its depositors.

LIFE IS SHORT. We asked Gretchen's reaction about the legal division of property nang makausap siya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa intimate birthday dinner ni Tito Douglas Quijano last Wednesday night, July 25, sa bahay nina Richard Gomez at Lucy Torres sa East Greenhills.
Sagot ng magandang aktres, "Nobody knows what's there [in the will] and at this point, people can only guess.
"And at this point, that's not what's important for me. What is given to me right now, what I enjoy—not only attention-wise and understanding and forgiveness that Tony's giving me—I obviously cannot ask for anything more.
"Kung anuman ang meron ako na materyal, which I'd rather not talk about, is more than enough. More than I ever even could imagine na magkaroon ako.
"I mean, matagal na akong nagtatrabaho and marami na rin akong kinita na pera, pero hindi ko pa rin ma-imagine kung ano ‘yung mga ibinigay niya [Tony] sa akin. I mean, sobra-sobra na!
"So, maiksi lang ang buhay, hindi natin kayang ubusin [ang lahat ng yaman]! Hahaha! I mean, whatever we have, we should just be thankful for. Huwag na tayong umasa nang mas higit pa," tuluy-tuloy na pahayag ni Greta.
CLAUDINE. Nabanggit din ni Gretchen ang tungkol sa pagdalaw niya sa baby boy Rodrigo Santino ng nakatampuhan niyang younger sister na si Claudine Barretto at ni Raymart Santiago.
"Ipinangako ko sa kanya [Claudine] nung magkita kami sa S&R [membership supermart sa The Fort] na pag nanganak siya, bibisita ako," kuwento ng magandang aktres, na mas nagmukhang bata ngayon sa bagong gupit niyang buhok.
"So, before siya nanganak, tumawag siya two days before and the day before. Sabi niya, ‘O, you come tomorrow ‘coz Saturday [July 21], manganganak na ako.
"Pero pagtawag ni Marjorie nung Friday [July 20), nanganak na pala [si Claudine]. So, hindi ko naabutan kasi, it was 7:44 in the morning. Pag-on ko ng celfone ko, nanganak na siya!
"Dinalaw ko siya sa hospital and then the next day, nung birthday niya, ang dami-daming tao. E, hindi ako puwede in a public place kasi I cannot catch any virus dahil si Tony, hindi puwedeng mahawa, di ba? So, hindi ako puwedeng pumunta roon. Kasi ang daming tao and I'm not supposed to kiss anyone," nakangiting kuwento ni Greta.
At the height of the "kisscandal" with John Estrada na pinili niyang huwag magsalita at sumagot sa isyu, Claudine was very vocal in defending Gretchen.
Na-touch ba siya sa ginawang ‘yon ng kanyang nakababatang kapatid na matagal na panahon din niyang nakahidwaan at recently lang sila nagkabati?
