TV Ratings (Sept. 3–6): "Impostora" outstrips "Marimar," "Pangarap Na Bituin" debuts at No. 6 overall

Has Marimar finally met its match? Based on this week's ratings, yes!

In the recent survey conducted by AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households from September 3 to 6, GMA-7's Impostora, starring Sunshine Dizon and Iza Calzado, dominated primetime viewing and snatched the top spot from Marimar, starring Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.

Though the margins were relatively within striking distance, the sudden upsurge finally shook the primetime viewing consistently enjoyed by Marimar since its debut last month.

The local version of the popular Mexican telenovela experienced its lowest ebb last September 3 (Monday), as it placed 4th overall behind 24 Oras, which registered a strong 31.1 percent rating, and second placer Mga Mata ni Anghelita, 31.4 percent.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN's new soap, Pangarap na Bituin starring Sarah Geronimo, Rica Peralejo, and Maja Salvador, debuted at No. 6 last September 3 with an impressive 27 percent rating. It remained at the same spot except last September 5, Wednesday, when it slipped to No. 8 overall.

Daytime viewing showed some interesting movements as noontime show Eat Bulaga! and soap opera Pati Ba Pinting Ng Puso jockeyed for the top spot.

Monday and Wednesday were owned by the triumvirate of Tito, Vic, & Joey with the ratings of 23.1 percent and 22.4 percent, respectively; while Pati Ba Pintig Ng Puso showed more poise last September 4 (Tuesday) and September 6 (Thursday) as it gathered 21.7 percent and 23.2 percent.

The battle of the daily morning talk shows, on the other hand, was dominated by GMA-7's SIS. The long-running Kapuso talk show beat rival Boy & Kris of ABS-CBN in all days (Monday to Thursday)—12.7 percent vs. 8.5 percent; 13.3 percent vs. 9.9 percent; 13.2 percent vs. 10.8 percent; and 14.5 percent vs. 8.4 percent.
