PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught sight of singer Yeng Constantino last night, September 25, as she was preparing to leave after a photo shoot for a music magazine.
Despite feeling under the weather, Yeng gladly accommodated our request for a quick interview before she officially called it a day.
"Okay naman po ako," said Yeng, fresh from her shows abroad that took her to different places in the U.S., such as San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, among other states.
The 18-year-old singer-songwriter blushed when we told her the news that she is one of the Filipino performers most in demand abroad this year. She was glad but refused to accept the comment seriously.
"Hindi naman siguro," she smiled before adding, "Pero ang sarap ng pakiramdam na alam mo na naging eroplano mo papunta ng ibang bansa is 'yong music mo."
She finds it amusing that Filipinos living abroad are well updated on the latest music being played here in Manila.
"Astig!
PDA BATCHMATES. Despite her busy schedule, Yeng said that communication lines between her and some of her Pinoy Dream Academy peers remains open without any glitches.
"Opo. Like Ate Iya [Ginez], Ate Rosita [Bareng], Ate Irish [Fullerton], Kuya Eman [Abatayo], Davey [Langit]... 'ayun may contact pa din po," she replied.
Yeng was not able to conceal her sadness, however, when asked how she feels about most of her contemporaries not being given the same amount of exposure and projects that she has.
"Sad," she admitted.
Music is still music [even] without the fame.
HOSTING CHORES. Yeng let out a loud laugh when we commended her hosting duties in ASAP '07, where she has a segment called "Y Republic."
"Ayoko. Ayokong magsalita. Sablay talaga ko sa hosting!" kidded Yeng, who was clad in her usual punk-preppy chick attire.
She's still feeling her way around the role and is now thinking about taking lessons to polish her hosting skills.
But she's very grateful to ABS-CBN for the trust and for giving her a solo segment.
Yeng proudly beamed.
BIRTHDAY PLANS. Yeng will be turning 19 on December 4 and she's planning to stage a concert to celebrate both her birthday and the Christmas season.
