Husband, or in this case, estranged husband knows best.

Comedian Dennis Padilla shielded his wife, actress-turned-Caloocan City Councilor Marjorie Barretto, against nagging rumors that she is carrying an affair with Mayor Enrico Echiverri.

According to the latest rumor, the two were allegedly caught kissing during a public function—a story that was quickly dismissed by Dennis.

"Hindi siya umalis. Noong time na ‘yon, buong council 'yon," said Dennis in a taped interview aired yesterday, October 14, in Showbiz Central.

Despite the separation, Dennis said that he and Marjorie are in good terms and remain the best of friends.

The more that I show my respect to Marjorie, the more that my children will respect me."

He also confessed that he is still hoping to rekindle the romance they once shared, which would also pave the way towards total reconciliation.

"Siyempre I'm still praying na maybe someday magka-crush siya sa akin ulit, patingin-tingin na naman siya sa akin, at nakahanda naman ako. Nandito lang ako anytime," confided Dennis, half seriously, half in jest.

CLAUDINE'S TAKE. Marjorie's sister, Claudine Barretto, also finds the rumor ridiculous.

As for Dennis, the young actress assured the popular comedian that he will always be part of the family, regardless of any domestic issue.

"Dennis will always be part of our family," Claudine fondly said of her estranged brother-in-law. "Walang magbabago. Mahal na mahal namin ‘yon."
