Gagawaran ng pinakamataas na parangal sina Ms. Charo Santos-Concio at Ms. Mel Tiangco sa nalalapit na 21st Star Awards for Television ng Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) sa November 18, 2007, Linggo ng gabi, sa Henry Lee Irwin Theatre ng Ateneo University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
Opisyal nang ipinahayag ng pamunuan ng PMPC na si Ms. Santos-Concio ang napili nilang recipient for this year's Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award.Si Ms. Tiangco naman ang gagawaran ng Excellence in Broadcasting Award ng samahan ng mga entertainment columnists and editors, na walang paltos sa paggawad ng TV awards for the past two decades.
Mula sa masusing nomination at deliberation ng iba pang mga pangalan, nagkaisa ang PMPC officers and members na si Ms. Santos-Concio ang hirangin para sa lifetime award na ito this year.
Ito ay base sa remarkable achievements niya sa movie and television industries, kasama na rin ang body of work, reputation, credibility, dedication, and integrity bilang isang tunay na alagad ng sining. At ngayon nga'y isa nang respetadong executive ng ABS-CBN, isa sa pinakamatagumpay at pinakamalaking TV networks ng bansa.
Ang past honorees ng Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award ng PMPC Star Awards for Television ay sina Pilita Corrales, Tony Quirino, Eddie Ilarde, Dolphy, Armida Siguion-Reyna, Nida Blanca, German Moreno, Al Quinn, Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Apo Hiking Society; Tito, Vic and Joey; Inday Badiday, Luz Valdez, Pepe Pimentel, Dely Atay-Atayan, Eddie Mercado, Loida Viriña, at Sylvia La Torre.
Samantala, kinikilala rin ng PMPC ang di-matatawarang achievements ni Ms. Tiangco sa larangan naman ng broadcasting, at maging sa public service. Gaya ni Ms. Santos-Concio, pasok rin sa criteria ng grupo ang magandang record ni Ms. Tiangco bilang isang award-winning broadcast journalist, mapa-radyo man o telebisyon, kaya siya ang napili para sa Excellence in Broadcasting Award para sa taong ito.
Pangatlong awardee pa lang si Tita Mel, ang tawag ng mga kasamahan kay Ms. Tiangco, sa karangalang ito. Ang dalawang unang tumanggap ay ang broadcasting legends na sina Bong Lapira at Harry Gasser.
Pormal nang sinulatan ng PMPC Executive Committee ang dalawa upang ipaalam na sila ang tatanggap ng nasabing mga awards.
Nasa Amerika pa sa ngayon si Ms. Santos-Concio, at tinatapos ang kanyang almost four months na pag-aaral sa Harvard University. Next week na ang uwi nito ng Pilipinas, ayon kay Roxy Liquigan, ad and promo head ng Star Cinema Productions, kung saan producer si Ms Concio.
As for Ms. Tiangco, nakatanggap ng text message ang PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) mula sa kanyang personal staff na si Lea na kumpirmadong darating ang main anchor ng 24 Oras sa Gabi ng Parangal.
Samantala, kumpirmado na ring hosts ng 21st Star Awards for Television sina Lorna Tolentino, Pops Fernandez, Ara Mina, at Boy Abunda. Trivia hosts naman sina Dingdong Dantes at Luis Manzano. Ito ay mula sa direksiyon ni Arlene Tolibas, at produksiyon ng Star View Productions ni Ms Josephine Saba.
At press time ay kinukumpirma pa ang performers ng tinatayang isa na namang star-studded and glamorous showbiz affair, gayundin ang maraming presenters sa 54 categories kabilang na ang Best Drama Actress at Actor, Best TV Host, Best Comedy Actor at Actress, Best Single Performance by an Actor and Actress, at Best Station.
