PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked celebrities to reveal their New Year’s resolutions.
“Be more admired instead of controversial,” says Mo Twister, host of Magic 89.9 radio program Good Times.
Mo caused a stir in show business after his 2006 comeback. He received flak for “Forbidden Questions”—a game he plays in his show where celebrity-guests answer provocative questions about themselves and the industry. Most of his critics, Cristy Fermin leading the pack, blame him for his guests’ answers. Mo retorts that he's just doing what the entertainment media has been doing for years and that the guests can always refuse to answer. Richard Gomez of SFiles agrees with DJ Mo.
“I guess be more patient,” Rustom Padilla says.
Last year was a big year for the comebacking actor. While starring in the reality show, Pinoy Big Brother, he told the whole nation that he is a homosexual. In the Philippines, this is of course a big thing, even if in more developed countries the thought of having to articulate a fact so acceptable would be laughable. Now, Rustom stars in Regal Films’ MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival) entry ZsaZsa Zaturrnah Ze Moveeh.
“Kailangan ma-maintain ko pa rin ‘yong katawan ko,” reveals FHM’s sexiest woman of 2006, Katrina Halili. “Diet!”
From Star Struck contender to certified star, the past year has been good to Katrina. She starred alongside Angel Locsin in Majika, graced the cover of FHM—Philippine’s premiere men’s magazine—and top billed Gigil, her first solo movie. The young actress seems to be going nowhere but up.
“[To get] more projects and album,” says Sandara Park, a product of the reality star search Star Circle Quest.
After the young actress’ hiatus to finish school in her homeland Korea, Sandara admits that she has to work extra hard to regain her star power. Last year was also tumultuous for her after her father left their family—and left them in debt. Sandara now stands as the family’s breadwinner.
“New year’s resolution ko, tumigil na mag-smoke,” confesses IC Mendoza, son of entertainment writer Dolly Anne Carvajal and grandson of the late Inday Badiday. “Tapos mag-concentrate sa showbiz ‘tsaka sa school.”
After admitting to being a homosexual, IC has played gay roles in films such as Twilight Dancers and Shake Rattle & Roll 8. Aside from his transition from child star to young actor, he is also enrolled as an Advertising freshman at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
