On the cover of the February 8-10 issue of tabloid Pinoy Parazzi with the headline "Dingdong, may ibang Marimar,' actor Dingdong Dantes is seen with an unidentified girl wearing an off-shoulder pink top. Dingdong is also holding a cigarette on his left hand while his right arm is on the shoulder of the unidentified girl.
Inside, there were five other photos of Dingdong and the girl. Dingdong's right arm never left the girl's shoulder. Three photos also show the girl whispering something in Dingdong's ear, and at one point their faces were touching.
Dingdong immediately doused speculations on the identity of the girl who was with him on the cover of Pinoy Parazzi. Dingdong revealed that the girl on the photo is his cousin.
"Pinsan ko po iyan. We were having a private conversation, e, nagkataon na apparently, nag-click yung mga camera kaya siguro nakuha yung mga nasabing litrato," Dingdong clarified.
In a phone-patch interview with showbiz talk show StarTalk last Saturday, February 9, Dingdong detailed, "Ito po yung nasa Boracay kami. Nagbakasyon po kami after Christmas at before mag-New Year. Karylle is Dingdong's girlfriend for almost three years now. And their relationship has been subject to so many intrigues ever since Dingdong's high profile role in the primetime series Marimar, where he plays Sergio.
"Andito ako, nasa set nagte-treadmill. Nung nakita ko yung picture, muntik na akong malaglag sa treadmill. Nakakagulat," Dingdong said when he was asked by StarTalk host Joey de Leon about his initial reaction.
Joey threw a question that there were pesky people asking about the identity of the girl, Dingdong laughed and said, "Huwag na. Huwag na.
"She's not in the industry, but she's definitely my cousin. And that's how we are with each other. Malapit kami sa isa't isa, you know, when we consult each other. E, talagang malambing talaga ako sa mga pinsan ko," he said.
