Unlike other women who cram for their wedding, TV host Cheska Garcia says that planning for her wedding is not as hectic as the others.
Cheska took the time to grace the event of The Face Shop last Wednesday, March 12, at the Cave Wine Bar and Restaurant, Bonifacio High Street, The Fort, Quezon City.
Cheska explained to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and GMA News why she still has time for her work and other sidelines. She said, "Kasi when Doug proposed to me, I already started planning last year. So basically, I'm a little bit more relaxed now. So what we're doing right now is giving down payments already."
Cheska and her fiancé, PBA player Doug Kramer, will exchange vows at the Blue Leaf in McKinley Hill Village, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. She also revealed, "The theme is gonna be a Spanish wedding with a tweak, it's not completely Spanish."
It's six months before their wedding on October 9. Does Cheska feel any wedding jitters?
"Yeah," she replied. "I was telling Doug nga, ‘What if I don't become a good wife?' I have, you know, quirks and everything. But he told me, ‘Don't tell me you're getting cold feet?' I'm like, ‘No, it's not like that.' Then, he said, ‘If there's anyone who's getting cold feet, that should be me because I'm the guy.'
"I don't think I'm getting cold feet, it's just that I can't help but think about things like this. It's another step in your life, something new again. It's like learning how to walk but then you have a partner with you."
Cheska is confident, though, that she and Doug are ready for the day of their union. "[We're] very prepared. I have everything going for us, we go through our marriage counseling, we have like, you know, our pastor to counsel us and make sure, you know, that we'll be prepared when that day comes," the soon-to-be Mrs. Kramer said.
Aside from the wedding plans, the couple has also prepared the things that come after the wedding.
"We're really prepared," Cheska said. "We bought a lot already but we're looking at a house somewhere in Ortigas, so we're gonna try and see that. Pero yung dream house, we're gonna build our dream house in two years because we're still paying for the lot."
The couple has even thought of hiring a helper when they move into their house. "We already, basically, ironed out everything. Of course, definitely, we're gonna have a helper. But then because Doug's working and I'm working as well, so it would be nice if we have a helper."
The next question that comes to mind after the wedding is about having a baby. Have they thought about it?
"Siguro if God gives it, then, sige. Kung mangyari, mangyari," Cheska answered. "Pero I'm hoping still that we'll give at least one year for it because, you know, I still have my work and everything. We still have to save up money, so sana siguro mga next year pa or two years from now."
