Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo have been open to the press about taking care of Yohan, Juday's adopted daughter whom she treats as her own. While PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was on the set of the movie Ploning, shot entirely on the island of Cuyo, Palawan, Juday excitedly told us more about her three-year old daughter Yohanna Louise.
"She's now three years old," declares Juday. "Hinihintay lang namin ang [adoption] papers niya para ‘pag pumasok siya sa preschool, under na siya ng name ko. Para hindi rin maguluhan yung bata. Ayokong maguluhan siya kung anong name ang isusulat niya. Siyempre, gusto ko tuluy-tuloy."
What plans does she have for Yohan?
"Marami akong plans for her. I'm just waiting for her papers. By four years old siguro papasok na siya. We're still talking about it kung three or four namin siya papapasukin kasi gusto namin uunti-untiin lang namin muna. Dahan-dahan lang ang pagpasok niya para hindi siya ma-shock."
The actress, who plays the lead character in this movie produced by Panoramanila Pictures Co., shares her observations about Yohan.
"She loves going to school. She loves playing with kids, she's very smart. She's very intelehente, ba? ‘Pag minsan nga, nagugulat ako at napapasabi na lang, ‘My God! Saan niya nakuha ‘yan?' Napaka-advanced ng utak ng bata."
"Ang sarap niyang panoorin kasi kapag nagsasalita siya, English. Bakit ako noong bata ako, hindi ako makapag-English nang ganun?
When it comes to entertaining Yohan, Judy Ann picks up a few pointers from her blockbuster movie Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo. "There was a time na tinatanong ako ng mga ninang niya kung anong ireregalo, sinasabi ko, ‘No more toys please, she has a lot of toys already.' Books na lang or numbers or anything na educational. Tama rin yung part ng movie sa SSS na hindi binibigay lahat ng regalo, okey rin yun para isa-isa lang yung bigay ng toy. Every week lang may bagong toy or ‘pag good girl lang siya. 'Tapos i-scan mo kung anong toy ang hindi niya dapat nilalaro. Very violent din kasi ang mga toys ngayon, e."
Just like her mother who is an accomplished cook and restaurant owner, Yohan has the makings of a chef someday. "Maraming beses, ‘pag nagluluto ako, nasa tabi ko rin yun," narrates Juday. "Naghahalo siya at kung may sandok akong nilalapag, titikman niya yung sandok at sasabihin niya, ‘Yummy!'
In fact, Juday gave her daughter an appropriate pasalubong during one of her trips abroad. "From the States, binilhan ko siya ng apron an may nakalagay na ‘chef in training.' Meron siyang little apron, gusto niyang naghahalo, gusto niyang nakikikalkal."
Where do they plan to send Yohan to school? "Regular school, definitely," says Juday. "Siyempre, you want the best for your kid. We're looking for a school na hindi naman siya magiging masyadong elitista at hindi naman magiging masyadong ngarag para sa kanya. Yung enough lang for her at gusto ko maramdaman niya yung proseso na dinaanan namin ng tatay niya."
Do they plan to give Yohan a sibling anytime soon?
"Ako, personally, gusto ko na kasi magti-thirty na ako sa May. Siyempre, hindi na rin ako bumabata. Kaya lang hindi pa kami kasal ni Ryan and I don't want our child to think that it's normal to have a baby while not yet married. Pero kanya-kanyang opinion lang ‘yan. Kami, personal choice namin to get married first then have a baby," says Judy Ann as our interview ends.
