With one of the most respected actresses and an icon in Philippine television now taking her place as the newest president of ABS-CBN, it is but right na mabigyan si Ms. Charo Santos-Concio ng tribute ng Kapamilya network ng katulad ng Sine Serye Presents: Susan Roces Collection, kung saan sini-serialize ang mga pinakasikat na pelikula ng movie queen of the ‘60s.
As an actress, Charo has a formidable lineup of outstanding and unforgettable movies, like Itim (where she won as Best Actress in the Asian Film Festival in 1976), Kakabakaba Ka Ba?, Tisoy, Kisapmata, Aguila (her first pairing with the late King of Philippine Cinema Fernando Poe Jr.), Apat Na Maria, and Hindi Mo Ako Kayang Tapakan.
Hindi Mo Ako Kayang Tapakan is an iconic Charo Santos movie where she delivers one of the most memorable movie lines: "Utang ito, hindi limos, at babayaran ko ito nang nakatayo habang ikaw naman ang inaapakan ko."
It was reported that the Via Hoffman-produced movie is one of the Charo movies being lined up kung sakaling magkakaroon ng Charo Santos Collection ang Sine Serye ng ABS-CBN. It is even listed in the Wikipedia as among the possible projects of the Kapamilya network for the coming year.
Unfortunately, the right has been bought by GMA-7.
"Ay, diyan mabilis si Annette [Gozon-Abrogar]!" said Noel Ferrer, special projects director for GMA Films, when we confirmed this news last night, March 26, inside the GMA Films office together with Ms. Annette Gozon-Abrogar and Joey Abacan.
Noel offers a background how Hindi Mo Ako Kayang Tapakan was acquired by GMA-7.
Kuwento niya, "May meeting kami nina Annette and Joey with Mother Lily [Monteverde] and Direk Maryo J. [delos Reyes]. Nag-uusap kami kung anu-anong mga pelikula ang puwedeng gawing Sine Novela. Si Direk Maryo J. ang nag-suggest ng Hindi Mo Ako Kayang Tapakan.
"Nang nalaman ni Annette na produced ito ni Via [Hoffman] na kapatid ni Joey [Marquez], tumawag agad si Annette kay Via. Right then and there, nabili agad ang rights plus two other movies—Kaya Kong Abutin Ang Langit at Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa." Annette and Via happen to be very close friends.
The two other movies, both starring Maricel Soriano, are also listed in Wikipedia as possible new ABS-CBN shows.
As an example on how fast Ms. Gozon-Abrogar works, while talking about new Korean soaps, napag-usapan na may official announcement na sa South Korea na magkakaroon din sila ng version ng Meteor Garden, ang Japanese manga na unang pinasikat ng Taiwan featuring F4. It was reported that the girl in the Coffee Prince ang gaganap na Shan Cai.
Narinig na rin pala ito ni Ms. Annette and while talking, she sent text messaging her connections/buyers of South Korean soaps. It was done and go sa GMA-7.
