"First of all, the character is so lovable. I mean, ako mismo, nai-in love ako dun sa character," says Regine Velasquez about her title character in My Name is Kim Sam Soon.

"Actually, before they offered that to me, ang alam ko talaga, it was really gonna be for her," umpisa ni Regine. In-explain nila sa akin na Bea was really going to do it, kaya lang they had... I don't know what happened, hindi ako alam yung story na hindi muna nila ginawa.
"And then, nung nag-uusap lang kami, kuwento-kuwento lang, I kinda mentioned it na gusto kong gumawa ng gano'n, tapos hindi naman niya sinasabi na nasa kanila [yung rights ng Betty La Fea]," kuwento ng Asia's Songbird sa presscon ng kanyang bagong show sa GMA-7, ang Songbird, last May 9.
KIM SAM SOON VS. BETTY LA FEA.
"Ganun talaga yun, e. It's business, wala naman tayong magagawa dun," maikli niyang tugon.
Dahil nakapagsimula na ng taping si Regine para sa Kim Sam Soon, kinumusta ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ang experience niya while doing the role.
"Actually, I'm having such a great time!" bulalas niya. "Alam mo, they gave me the best staff and crew. The same group who did Marimar is now handling Kim Sam Soon...
"I'm having such a great time. Sobrang nakakatuwa! First of all, the character is so lovable.
So, nakalimutan niya si Betty?
It's such a big honor for me to work with Tessie. We have Vangie Labalan, si Eugene [Domingo], my God! Naluka-luka nga ako... Alam mo, nakakatawa... Of course, we have Sweet [John Lapus], Carmi Martin, we have Mark [Anthony Fernandez].
"Kasi the story of Kim Sam Soon, wala sila talaga dapat chemistry," pahayag ni Regine. "Kasi the guy is really supposed to be younger than her. Kasi part of her insecurity really is her age and her body... The thread is still the same, pero binigyan tayo ng right na mas gawing Pilipino, yung kultura natin. It's a romantic comedy, but it also tackles yung kahirapan, in a different way."
