In the movie I.T.A.L.Y. (I Trust And Love You),
Jolina Magdangal wore a wedding gown while shooting in Venice, Italy. Her
character, Des Pinlac, is a hopeless romantic who is looking for the perfect
groom. But in real life, Jolina's good friend Judy Ann Santos will soon be wearing a
white dress for her own wedding since she was recently engaged to longtime boyfriend
Ryan Agoncillo.
During the press conference of I.T.A.L.Y. last night, June 19, at the Jumbo Kingdom floating
restaurant at the CCP complex, Jolina expressed her happiness for the milestone
in Juday's life.
"Happy ako for Juday, sa totoo lang. Bago pa nangyari yung engagement, lagi na kaming nagkakabiruan na, 'Ano na ba...ultimatum na ba?' Nung malaman ko na tuloy na tuloy na, masaya ako para sa kanya at kahit na hindi ko pa nasabi at personally nakita, alam niya na masaya ako para sa kanya. Before pa nun, nag-i-imagine na kami ng family friends," said Jolina.
Did they talk about details of their dream wedding?
"Sa totoo lang, hindi pa namin napag-uusapan...nagkukuwentuhan lang kami.
Siyempre, gusto namin magpakasal, pero wala pang mga detalye tulad ng gown....wala
kaming pinag-uusapan na ganun. If ever, may mga tao siya na kukunin [sa
entourage], hindi ko pa alam kung sino ang ia-assign niya."
Did she feel envious about her friend being the first to be engaged to the man of her
dreams?
"Ay, wala," Jolina answered quickly. "Wala, kasi choice yun, e. Ready na sila, so
ganun talaga and para sa akin, kung kaibigan mo ang isang tao, magiging masaya
ka. Ni katiting na [selos], wala akong naramdaman."
After being together with Bebong Muñoz for seven years and five months, does that mean that she and Bebong are still not ready to get married?
"Siguro, hindi pa lang ito ang taon para pag-usapan namin yun. Pero as a couple, okay naman kami pero hindi pa namin ‘yan napapag-usapan."
Has she herself imagined what kind of proposal she would want to get from Bebong?
"Gusto ko naman surprise...yung tipong magugulat ako, hindi
yung parang may hint ako. If ever, masarap yung surprise talaga. Kahit sinong
lalaki na magpo-propose dun sa babae, yung pinaka-highlight yung naiyak dahil
na-surprise."
She has been very open in saying that she fell in love with Venice, Italy.
Members of the press curiously asked if she would want to hold her honeymoon in
the Capital of Romance.
"Siguro hindi mismo dun yung honeymoon, pero isa yun sa mga target na lugar na
dapat mapuntahan," she said.
APT REPLACEMENT FOR GABBY. Earlier that night, I.T.A.L.Y. director Mark Reyes declared he was grateful that Dennis Trillo took over the role of Jolina's love interest not someone else, referring to Gabby Concepcion. The comebacking actor turned down the role at the last minute. Does Jolina agree with his statement?
"Para sa akin, kung nasabi ni Direk yun, okay yung sinabi ni Direk kasi walang naging problema kay Dennis. Kahit sukang-suka na siya [Dennis] dahil sobrang lakas ng alon dun, wala kang makikitang reklamo. Wala kang maririnig na ‘pag talikod niya, may sinasabi siya, wala talaga. Kahit expression na ‘please gusto ko nang matulog,' wala. Sa kanya, nagawa niya nang maayos ang trabaho niya at tama lang na sinabi ni Direk yun."
She adds: "Bagay naman si Dennis sa movie, so okay lang."
Jolina also announced that her father, Jun Magdangal Jr., would no longer be co-producing I.T.A.L.Y. with GMA Films. "Walang koneksiyon ito dahil sa pagkawala ni Gabby. Kahit wala na siya nun, tuloy pa rin dapat. Kaya lang, ewan ko, may mga kausap na iba..."
When her father co-produces a different film, will she be involved in choosing the cast members?
"But of course! Ito, ni-request ko talaga si Peachy [Rufa Mae Quinto] saka si Ate Uge [Eugene Domingo], noon ko pa siya gusto makasama. Ngayon lang kami may maraming eksena. ‘Pag co-producer ka, siyempre gusto mo yung komportable kang kasama."I.T.A.L.Y. will open in theaters nationwide starting August 6, 2008.
