Vic Sotto is now a proud grandfather.
The 54-year-old comedian-TV host was very excited when he found out that his eldest daughter Danica Sotto had already given birth to her first son with husband, basketball player Marc Pingris.
"Sinilip ko yung bata sa nursery and the feeling is indescribable," related Vic to GMA News reporter Nelson Canlas.
The first-time grandfather described his grandson: "He's super adorable and cute. Parang kamukha ni Danica na ayaw namang pumayag ng tatay [Marc] at sabi, ‘Hindi, pagtagal-tagal niyan, hahaba na rin ang mukha niyan.'"
The baby's name is Jean-Michele, a French-sounding name attributed to Marc's French bloodline. Danica had to give birth via caesarean section because of the size of the baby, who weighed 8.2 lbs. and measured 55 centimeters.
Aside from his excitement, Vic also managed to crack a joke about his grandson's name. When asked about the child's nickname, Vic answered in jest, "Ang pinoproblema na lang nila 'yong nickname, kung anong itatawag. Ayaw nilang tanggapin, e, Jun-Jun!"
Vic recently finished his movie project Double Trouble with Comedy King Dolphy. He admitted that he used to envy his co-actor, who already has several grandchildren. But now Vic is glad that he can relate to Dolphy when talking about being a grandparent.
"Lolo na ako katulad ni Dolphy. Noong una, medyo naiinggit ako kay Dolphy. Ngayon, pareho na kaming lolo," said Vic.
On the other hand, Vic refused to be called "lolo" by his grandchild. He said, "Sa amin, ang tawagan ng lolo is tatay, e, so tatay na rin ang tawag sa akin."
