Tinapos na ni Ms. Wilma Galvante, SVP for Entertainment TV ng GMA Network, ang pananahimik sa isyu niya at ng Kapuso network kaugnay ng mga paratang ni Annabelle Rama. Sa isang pakikipag-usap sa press, kasama ang PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), kahapon, August 28, sinagot at nilinaw nito ang mga nasabing isyung na-headline sa mga babasahin.
May kinalaman ang mainit na isyu sa diumano'y sinadyang pagtapat ng GMA-7 sa Let's Celebrate! The Dingdong-Marian Birthday Blowout nina Dingdong Dantes at Marian Rivera sa opening ng pelikulang For The First Time na pinagbibidahan nina KC Concepcion at Richard Gutierrez noong August 27.
Si Richard ay anak at alaga ni Annabelle at isang Kapuso star. Pinayagan siya ng GMA-7 na gumawa ng pelikula sa Star Cinema ng ABS-CBN kapalit ng paggawa ng pelikula ni KC sa GMA Films next year.
NO QUARREL WITH ANNABELLE. Sinimulan ang tsikahan with the press sa tanong kay Ms. Wilma kung ano ang mangyayari sa future relationship nila with Annabelle, she being a talent manager at supplier ng talents sa mga show ng Kapuso network.
"Personally, we do not have any quarrel with Annabelle," sagot ng lady executive. "Wala rin akong quarrel with her and we have not violated any contract with her. We're always careful in implementing the contract. Wala talagang away.
"Ang pinagsimulan as far as this issue is concerned, e, ito ngang Let's Celebrate sa Araneta Coliseum. I do not do the booking, but I was told na ang available lang na schedule is August 27. Fully booked ang Araneta. We wanted a weekend, we wanted the last weekend. Kasi ie-air talaga ito sa August 31," paliwanag ni Ms. Wilma.
Why hold a birthday special for Marian and Dingdong?
"If you have two major stars who will celebrate their birthdays on the same month, if you're a producer, this is business, di ba, iisipin mo na this is material for a special. Talagang puwede mo siyang lamanan, puwede mo siyang i-hype, puwede mong i-celebrate. And then make an entertainment special, air it, get sponsors for it, and then ultimately entertain the audience, which is just the objective. The main thing is kahit mag-check ka sa booking office ng Araneta Coliseum, the only date that they were able to give us was August 27."
Ipinaliwanag din ni Ms. Wilma na ang busy schedule nina Marian at Dingdong ang pumigil para magawa ng mas maaga ang kanilang birthday special. Kundi may shows abroad, may pictorial o di kaya'y may shoot ng TVC for their endorsements.
"Wala kaming masamang intention, walang malisya dun. And that project, the whole schedule, is not just a personal approval also, or a personal whim on my end. It's approved by our programming committee—it's a body, it's the most important group. It's the most important meeting that happens in GMA because that's where we make our important decisions."
DOUBLE VICTORY. Nakarating na kay Ms. Wilma ang box-office result ng movie nina Richard at KC, at nag-extend siya ng congratulations sa dalawa at sa Star Cinema. Masaya rin nitong ibinalitang successful ang birthday special nina Marian at Dingdong.
"Nakita mo na ‘pag maganda ang project mo, ipa-patronize naman. Yung mga nagpunta naman sa Araneta kagabi, sabihin mo nang 7,000 or 8,000 people, yun na yun. Kasi isang gabi lang siya, e. 'Tapos very niched, para sa fans, para sa family, para sa friends. 'Tapos, sa nangyari, masaya yung tao. We have a very good special to air on Sunday [August 31]. Very strict ang Araneta sa policy nilang 'no ticket, no entry'.
"And then the movie ni Richard at saka ni KC, marami...even Mother Lily [Monteverde] says maganda yung performance ng movie. E, di mabuti, congratulations"
Naikuwento na tuloy ni Ms. Wilma na hindi nakapasok ang two busloads of fans from Laguna dahil walang tiket. Nagbakasakali lang ang grupo, pero kahit may uupuan pa sila sa Big Dome, wala silang tiket dahil ubos na ang na-issue na tiket, kaya hindi rin sila nakapasok.
Nasagot din ang tanong ng PEP at ibang press kung bakit sobra ang higpit ng security sa gabi ng birthday special. Noong rehearsal pala, may nahuli ang production na lalaking may baril na nasa loob ng Araneta.
Sabi ni Ms. Wilma, naiwan ng lalake ang baril sa CR at nakita ng isang staff ni Direk Louie Ignacio nang mag-CR ito. Binalikan ng lalake ang baril sa CR, kung saan nandun pa ang staff. Naka-fatigue ang naturang lalake at kahit hindi tinanong, nagpakilala siyang security at saka nagmamadaling lumabas. Sinundan ito ng security, pero hindi na nakita. Nasa Big Dome kami that rehearsal night (August 26).
"CONFLICT IS NOT OUR NATURE." Patuloy ni Ms. Wilma, "Kung may na-mis-inform man, o bugso ng damdamin, hindi namin yun gusto. You can't control the reaction of other people, but what we can control is our own reaction and we choose to keep quiet.
"It is not in our nature para mang-away. We do not do that. Conflict is not our nature. Hindi natin sasadyain na may gagawin tayo para samain ng iba, most especially yung mga artistang inaalagaan natin. You know, we are very happy and very proud na ang pinakamagaling ngayon, nandito sa GMA."
Nagbigay rin ng pahayag si Ms. Wilma sa akusasyon ni Annabelle na hindi tumulong ang GMA-7 sa pagpu-promote ng pelikula nina Richard at KC.
Aniya, "We were there for the cross promotions. Every show na sinabi namin na puwedeng um-appear yung dalawa, nandun, available yung show. SOP lang yata yung hindi natupad, kasi last minute sinabi nila na masyadong maraming mangyayari [sa ASAP '08], male-late yung dating sa SOP. So, fine, hindi nangyari 'yon. Pero even sa SiS kanina, nangyari, 'no? Yun, kung ano ang schedule.
