Regal Films celebrates year-long 48th anniversary with "Mag-ingat Ka Sa...Kulam"

Regal Films is all set for its one-year 48th anniversary celebration starting this October.
Month of August dati isini-celebrate ng Regal Entertainment ang anniversary nito magmula nang ipapalabas ang unang pelikulang iprinodyus nila, ang Kayod Sa Araw, Kayod Sa Gabi noong dekada ‘70. Binago ni Mother Lily Monteverde ang buwan ng selebrasyon dahil sa dalawang rason.
Una, ibinilang ng Regal ang taon na una silang pumasok sa showbiz hindi lang bilang producer ng local movies kundi sa pagsisimula nila bilang taga-release ng foreign movies. Dating Good Harvest, sila ang nag-release ng isa sa pinakamalaking pampamilyang pelikula ng Hollywood noong 1962 na All Mine to Give.
Ikalawa, "sa Chinese tradition, August is the month of the dead and the ghosts," paliwanag ni Mother Lily sa presscon ng Mag-ingat Ka Sa... Kulam. Sa international movie ni Alessandra de Rossi na The Maid, ito ang naging tema ng pelikula—ang pagdating niya sa Singapore na panimula ng celebration of the angry ghost sa buwan ng Agosto.
Isang taon magsi-celebrate ang Regal at sunud-sunod na projects ang gagawin nila. Dapat sana'y ia-announce ito ni Roselle Monteverde-Teo sa general question and answer ngunit naputol ang pagsagot niya sa isang segue question kung kaya't kinausap na lang namin siya pagkatapos ng Q&A.
"Marami. Una na yung apat na movie ni Juday [Judy Ann Santos]," pauna ni Roselle.
Dalawang two-picture contract ang pinirmahan ni Juday para sa Regal. Una na nga rito ang Mag-ingat Ka Sa... Kulam kasama si Dennis Trillo na ipalalabas na sa October 1. Gagawin na ang kasunod, ang balik-tambalan nila ng kanyang real-life boyfriend na si Ryan Agoncillo, na malamang ay maging opener ng Regal para sa 2009.
Sa dalawa pang pelikula ni Juday, una ay ang pagsasama nila ni Richard Gutierrez at ikalawa ay ang isang pelikula naman na pagsasamahan nila ni Marian Rivera.
Hinahanda na rin ang dalawang festival entries ng Regal sa 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival-Philippines na Shake, Rattle & Roll X at Desperadas 2. Next year, makiki co-produce pala ang Regal sa GMA Films para sa ikalawang pagsasama nina Richard at KC Concepcion na When I Met You.
Ang isa sa pinag-uusapan pa lang at pinaghahandaan ng Regal ay ang pagbabalik ni Gabby Concepcion sa Regal at binabalak nilang iparehas si Marian sa dating matinee idol ng dekada ‘80. Naitanong namin kung co-produced din ba ito with GMA Films. Hindi raw, iba kasi ang plano ng GMA Films para sa isang picture contract nila kay Gabby, si Iza Calzado ang binabalak nilang ipareha.
