Paolo Paraiso can't be happier to know that his ex-girlfriend Mylene Dizon is carrying his second child. News came out about Mylene's pregnancy recently, but the showbiz world—especially the people close to Paolo and Mylene—showed genuine surprise when they found out that Paolo was the reason behind such good news.
Yesterday in Showbiz Central, a smiling Paolo Paraiso answered everyone's curiosity on how such an event transpired. But before anything else, Showbiz Central host Raymond Gutierrez asked Paolo how he got the news.
"Recently lang, e," Paolo admitted. "I was at the taping of Asero, ‘tapos nag-text sa akin si Mylene. Sabi, ‘You have to come here, after your taping.' So, ako, ‘Okey, pero I'm in Subic, so, mamayang umaga pa ako matatapos dito.' Sinabi lang niya sa akin na it's important and I had to be there. So, right after taping, diretso ako sa bahay ni Mylene then I woke her up, ‘tapos sabi niya sa akin na may pregnancy test siya. So, tinest namin and it came out positive."
"Noong lumabas ang positive result, ano ang naging reaction mo?" Raymond asked.
"Nagulat ako, siyempre," admitted Paolo. "Nagulat talaga ako. Pero happy na nagulat. Ever since naman sinasabi namin na if ever na magkaka-baby ulit, e, kaming dalawa ulit." Then with his eyes shining, he added, "Tsaka, three years old na din si Tomas [their first child]..."
Raymond commented that in an earlier segment featuring Paolo and Mylene's close friends, Marco Alcaraz and Judy Ann Santos, they looked surprised at hearing the news. What was their reaction?
Before he answered, Paolo shared, "Well, after we knew, si Mylene tumawag agad sa States, sa family niya, at ako naman tumawag ako kay Bubbles [Paraiso, his sister], sa mommy ko. Positive talaga ang news, e, and it's a gift talaga, so ipinamalita namin talaga. Binalita ko agad."
When he shared the news to everyone, were there mixed emotions?
"At first nagulat din sila," Paolo said. "Pero supportive sila. Lahat nga sila gusto babae, e."
Well, it seems like Mylene wants the baby to be a girl as well. What's Paolo's say on this?
"Kahit ano," Paolo answered. After a short pause, he kidded, "Kahit ano, basta lalake!"
PATCHING UP WITH MYLENE. Mylene's pregnancy may be the answer to Mylene and Paolo's plans to reconcile and start all over to form a lasting relationship. But for now, what is their status?
"Kami ni Mylene, ever since naghiwalay kami two years ago, e, she's always been a special woman of my life. Siya ang nanay ng anak ko, e. Hindi mabubura yun kahit anong mangyari. And ngayon, sa situation namin at sa nangyaring ito, I think we can work on what we have. Magagawa pa namin ito ng panibagong usapan sa amin."
"During the duration na kayong naghiwalay," Raymond followed up, "did you guys remain very close? Nakikita niyo pa rin ba ang isa't isa? Madalas ba magkita kayo before o recently lang ulit?"
"Before pa," Paolo said. "Sa family functions kasama siya. ‘Pag sa kanila naman, e, kasama din ako. Every weekend nandoon ako para bisitahin si Tomas. So, we talk. ‘Pag may problema ako, siya ang confidante ko. Same with her."
