Bb. Pilipinas-World 2008 has quit from the Miss World 200 beauty pageant because of the recent death of her grandfather. She will be replaced by 1st runner-up Danielle Castaño (inset).

I agree with adoboworld! And yes the CONTENT and appropriateness of your answer more than the diction is more important but both were absent, not just lacking, in her response! Then to end up with the crown was an insult to the watching public!

Si Karla Bautista, I think yung rep natin sa Ms. World nung 2006, namatayan ng mom, pero gimawa niyang inspiration ito kaya naka-place sa Ms. World.

sana she didn't back-out para may chance syang ma prove na deserving sya sa title... na pwede nyang patunayan na pagdating sa Ms. World makakasagot sya ng maayos, pero sa ginawa nyang pag back-out wala na syang chance na i-prove sa madlang people ang pagkakamali nya nung pageant... sayang!

Siguro tama lang na mag back out siya kasi alam naman niya na hindi siya talaga karapat dapat sa Ms. World. Hindi sa minamata ko siya kaya lang mas madaming choices bago siya na mas magaling.

well buti naman natauhan na si JANINA na di sya magwawagi dahil pang brainy lang naman ang contest na yun no,look at RUFFA di ba nalaglag pa sia sa 2nd princess despite of her wit and beauty ,e si Janina beauty lang talaga baon nya,e sa Ms World lately talagang beauty and brain ang labanan,kung sa Ms International pa siya inilaban e baka makalusot pa siya kasi mas magaling pa siyang mag english kesa sa mga Hapon na judges ng patimpalak.Am i right Melanie Maruez?

Come to think of it it was the command responsibility of the pageant judges to vote for someone who is deserving of the crown: beauty; brains; charisma; personality; the X factor. Janina is suffering the consequences of a decision gone wrong.....poor girl. If they really found her attractive the judges should have bestowed upon her awards as best in swimsuit; best in long gown; miss photogenic; ika nga consuelo de bobo (sorry for the pun); if not she should have gotten 2nd or 3rd runner up if only to give credit for her looks. Responsible judging makes for winners in international contests. Take note kaya kailangan ding responsible voting sa government elections kundi di karapat-dapat ang uupo sa anumang gobyerno and it will be at the expense of the people (tulad ng beauty contest na at the expense of Janina)....what you sow is what you reap as the saying goes.

okay lang kung balu-baluktot yung english basta tama lang ang content or i mean tama ang sagot mo as a whole, pero paano kung sablay parin ang sagot mo?? naku ang laking problema nyan, maliban sa mahihiran e translate yung answer mo from any diff. language eh mali pa ang sagot mo.. if ever ganito ang sagot mo ""My pamily is the most important persons in my life"." sa tanong na what is the ROLE of your family in joining BB Pilipinas pageant? sapalagay mo kahit tama yung english mo ay tama rin ang iyong sagot?? eh kahit ver fluent ka sa sagot na yun, hindi parin tumpak ang sagot mo, at yan ang hindi ko gusto kay janina,kahit pa tagalugin mo or anung language(depends on fluency) ang gamitin mo, ang layo parin ng sagot mo, at yun nga ang dahilan kung bakit na talo si Meriam sa Q&A, kasi mas matalinong sumagot yung isang kandidata compare sa sagot nya.. dba MERIAM??

it's not so much as her grammar but the content of what she said. true, Filipinos can be very mean when it comes to other Filipinos who don't speak English fluently. However, in the case of Janina, she is supposed to represent our country in the ONLY INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT WE HAVEN'T WON IN. Speaking English is not a problem because the pageant can always provide for an interpreter. But what use is an interpreter if the content is not right at all?

Janina you made a good decision. Practice on your communication and try again. Wala ka na problema sa beauty and looks, communication na lang. And composure.

I feel sorry for Janina. Masyadong natakot yung bata sa mga batikos. Saka na siya sumali ulit sa beauty pageant, kung ready na siya.

Aminin nyo na na hindi naman nya deserve na manalo dahil mas marami pang mas magaling sa kanyang contestant. This is a concest and the best should win pero hindi ganoon ang nangyari, nanalo pa rin si Janina despite her bloopers so hindi fair ang pagkapanalo nya dahil hindi sya ang the best nung gabing yon. Ok lang na nagkamali sya pero kung sya pa rin ang nanalo hindi fair yon sa mga natalo na mas magaling sa kanya. Swerte na rin si Janina dahil na taste nya ang mag suot ng crown kahit di naman nya deserve.

I agree na talagang ang galing mag discriminate ng Pinoy sa kapwa Pinoy. Ewan ko ba...parang ayaw natin na mas may mataas ang pinag-aralan sa tin or mas successful sa atin. Gusto natin na pag bagsak ka bagsak din mga tao sa paligid mo. Crab mentality in its purest form.

And I totally agree with #228 (Rochelle), Kami nga galing lang kami magkakapatid sa public school (maliit na elementary public school ha) pero okey naman kaming mag-english, (in fact all of us are working in call center) Ngayon college graduate na di pa maka pag-english, I learned to speak english by watching Sesame Street and Voltes V, kasi ngayon lahat tinatagalog na. Hindi masama ang matuto magsalita ng tamang english.

If you have seen sa You Tube ang QandA portion ni Janina, (listen very carefully) may part na sinabi sa kanya ni Paolo Bediones okey lang kung magtagalog ka, pero pinilit pa din niya mag-english meaning she cannot put her ideas into words, she can not ariculate her ideas sa tagalog o english man, wit and presence of mind is important sa Q and A, hindi na pinag-uusapan kung marunong siyang mag-english o hindi eh i think yung bilis nang pag-iisip, importante yun sa beauty pageants, good thing she backed out.

Laughing is said to be a form of defense mechanism for various reasons....napahiya; walang masabi; nervousness; etc. The poor girl might have been so nervous during the interview. Merong mga taong magaling sa written exams pero pagdating sa oral exams natatameme. Let's just give her the benefit of the doubt tutal wala naman siyang sinasaktan o tinatapakan na ibang tao. Mabuti na sabihin kang boba pero mabuti ka namang tao kesa yung matalino at may pinag-aralan na grabe namang manlait at mambastos ng kapwa.

Rochelle I agree with your observation. But it is also sad because many of our youth cannot even speak decent Pilipino. Marami ang hindi articulate maging sa English o sa Pilipino. It just comes to show that parents shouldn't rely entirely upon the educational system. Kailangan din yung guidance ng parents sa pagtuturo ng kanilang mga anak---tutok ika nga. Meron akong mga kakilala na graduate sa public schools who excelled academically in college at nagto-top pa nga sa board exam. Kapag titingnan backgrounds nila sasabihin nilang nakatutok mga magulang nila sa kanila. Of course isang factor ang school sa skills and knowledge na natututunan ng mga bata pero bukod dito depende din ito sa tao at sa pagtutok ng magulang sa anak.

Whatever is her reason for backing off, she should have continued the fight to prove to her critics that she is more than a pretty face. So what if she speaks in Pilipino during the contest, nothing to be ashamed of of the Filipino national language. What of the blunder she made last time, we all make blunders, no exception, even presidents do. So quit making fun of her. She's human like all of us. Janina be a fighter not a looser, don't let your critics put you down.

Janina served as an eye-opener na talagang ang quality ng edukasyon natin lalo na sa public school ay napakababa. Sana naman bigyang pansin
yan ng gobyerno na maibalik ang kalidad ng ingles noong 50's or 60's na kahit elementary graduate lang marunong makipag-communicate unlike now kahit college graduate na hindi pa rin diretso magsalita ng ingles. Kawawa naman ang susunod na generasyon baka kahit sa call centers hindi na matanggap sa trabaho. Pilipinas gising.

according to ricky lo's column, it goes deeper than that so "better safe than sorry." puwede daw may attitude problem, that she has been uncooperative during the training (speech, etc) after her win....

Janina were not even sure if she can make it to the top 10, kaya dapat nag try xa. But unfortunately u back out and so u have given us again another reason to think that u don't deserve to be Bb. Pilipinas-World.
