Director Khryss Adalia passed away earlier today, October 13, at UST Hospital after losing his battle with colon cancer. Direk Khryss's last TV project was the recently concluded Ako Si Kim Samsoon.

Ilang buwan pa lang ang nakalilipas nang pinangalanan si Direk Khryss Adalia na isang director sa blind item na may cancer. Tinatawag na "Inay" ng lahat ng mga nakatrabaho niya at mga kaibigan, si Direk Khryss ang nagpauso ng dalawang beso sa magkabilang pisngi tuwing makikita mo siya.
Nagsimula siya bilang dubbing supervisor (sa Bagets noong 1984) at scriptwriter (sa Dyosa noong 1982). Sa ABS-CBN siya unang nakapagdirek sa mga shows na tulad ng F.L.A.M.E.S. Taong 1999 nang lumipat siya sa GMA-7, una sa Rio del Mar.
Nagkasunud-sunod ang shows ni Direk Khryss tulad ng ‘Te Amo, tatlong seasons ng Love To Love, Bakekang, Mga Mata Ni Anghelita, at ang pinakahuli ay ang Ako Si Kim Samsoon.
Naging aktor din si Direk Khryss sa mga pelikulang Soltero (1984), Wake Up Little Susie (1984), Macho Dancer (1988), Orapronobis (1989), Live Show (2000), 9 Mornings (2002), La Visa Loca (2005), at ang pinakahuli ay ang My Monster Mom ngayong taon na ito.
Sa kalagitnaan ng taping ng Ako Si Kim Samsoon una naming narinig ang tungkol sa karamdaman ni Direk Khryss—ang colon cancer. Pinalitan siya sa mga huling linggo ni Direk Louie Ignacio.
Pinili ng direktor na magpahinga kesa ibalita ang sakit niya. Hindi na siya muling nakitang lumabas sa kanyang bahay mula noon.
Noong Sabado, October 11, isinugod si Direk Khryss sa UST Hospital dahil sa sakit na nararamdaman niya. Kaninang alas-otso ng umaga, October 13, binawian na siya ng buhay. Nakatakda siyang iburol sa Funeraria Paz sa Araneta Avenue, Quezon City, simula ngayong hapon sa Chapel 8.
Ipinaikot ng mga kaibigan niya ang mensaheng ito sa text:
"Huling sulyap kay Inay Khryss, October 16, Thursday, 8:30 p.m. sa UP Film Center. Ipalalabas ang huli niyang pelikula na My Monster Mom ng Regal at GMA Films. All the friends and industry co-workers and supporters are invited to watch and donate. Please help us publicize this po for our beloved departed Direk Khryss."
