Former actress Nadia Montenegro, who recently suffered a mild heart stroke, appeared on Showbiz Central's "Central Jury" yesterday, November 9, to explain the issues involving her in the past weeks.
Nadia learned only by chance that she was having a silent stroke when she had to take some medical tests before she could go through liposuction.
In the interview, the 36-year-old showbiz personality explained, "Nagkaroon ako ng silent heart attack. Hindi ko alam na may gano'n kasi..."
When asked if it was caused by the stress that came from the intrigues involving her, Nadia answered indirectly, "Basta nagpa-check up ako, nagpa-ECG [electrocardiogram] ako, nagpa-2D echo [two-dimensional echocardiography] ako, nakita nga na mayroong nangyari sa puso ko. Siguro, siyempre, overweight nandiyan na, nandiyan na 'yong stress, nandiyan na 'yong napabayaan ko na rin talaga siguro 'yong sarili ko, 'yong health ko, sa dami na rin ng problema."
Nadia assured the Showbiz Central host Rufa Mae Quinto, however, that there's nothing to worry about. She explained, "So, noong nakita 'yon, nakita na na-enlarge 'yong left side ng heart ko and merong isang artery na kailangan, kumbaga, ingatan ko. But since bata pa ako, 36, hindi nasugatan 'yong puso ko. So, nakukuha pa sa gamot."
This health condition prompted Nadia to quit smoking.
"I'm so happy to say na I don't smoke anymore," said Nadia. "I've been smoking for more than 20 years of my life. I stopped smoking dahil sinabi na rin ng mga anak ko, ‘Ma, tama na.' So, hindi na rin ako nag-i-smoke. Sana, sana, matuluy-tuloy ko."
ON GRETCHEN BARRETTO. Nadia was asked about different local showbiz personalities, with whom she had an issue recently. First, she was asked about Gretchen Barretto.
Nadia's good friend and Showbiz Central guest juror Lotlot de Leon asked her, "Recently daw ay nagkita kayo ni Gretchen sa birthday ni Tita Annabelle [Rama on October 25], hindi daw kayo nagpansinan?
Nadia replied, "Hindi kami nagpansinan dahil hindi kami nagkita. Nagkataon na 'yong party sa Yacht Club, sinadya yata ni Tita Annabelle na tig-isa kami sa yate. Hindi, joke lang 'yon. Magkahiwalay [kami ng yate], so walang isnaban, walang dedmahan, walang nangyaring gano'n dahil hindi kami nagkita."
Rufa Mae then asked, "E, kung sakaling magkita kayo?"
Nadia's short answer was, "Hindi naman kami bastos, pareho naman kaming may pinag-aralan. I'm sure...smile."
Following this, Showbiz Central asked for Nadia's reaction about Gretchen's statement saying, "I have chosen to forgive her [Nadia]." (Click here to read related article )
"'Yong magpatawad, napakadali," Nadia explained. "Napakadali lang magpatawad, sino ba naman ako? Ang sinasabi ko lang, mahirap na bumalik sa dati. 'Yon lang, kumbaga, parang nabigay ko na 'yong 101 percent ko sa kaibigan ko. 'Yong pagmamahal hindi mawawala 'yon, pero 'yong sakit nandoon pa.
She continued, "'Yong pagpapatawad napakadali, ewan ko kung naiintindihan ninyo 'yon. Mangyayari at mangyayari kapag kaming dalawa na lang siguro. Mahirap kasi dahil 'yong mga sitwasyon na nagkikita kami, parating showbiz..."
ON ROSE FLAMINIANO. Next, Nadia was asked about talent manager Rose Flaminiano, who tagged her as the "sulsoltant" of returning actor Gabby Concepcion. (Click here to read related article )
Rufa Mae asked, "Tungkol naman kay Mommy Rose, ano na ang lagay noon?" To which Nadia replied, "Hindi ko alam. Kamusta na ba siya?"
Then, she recalled how the issue between them started. "Alam mo kasi, wala naman talagang naging issue, wala naman talaga akong naging issue kay Rose Flaminiano. Sila naman ang may binabato sa akin. Kumbaga, parang, how do you call it, sila ang may ina-accuse sa akin na wala namang katotohanan."
Trying to not to say anything further about the talent manager, Nadia just said, "Ako, pinapanalangin ko na sana malusutan niya lahat itong gulong pinasukan niya, napasukan niya, at mga problemang kailangan pa niyang ayusin."
ON CRISTY FERMIN. After Rose Flaminiano, Rufa Mae asked Nadia about the suspended The Buzz host Cristy Fermin. The question was, "Kumusta naman? Feeling mo ba vindicated ka after [ma-suspend si Cristy]?
Instead of being glad about it, Nadia told the Showbiz Central host, "I always said na hindi mo puwedeng ika-rejoice 'yong nangyari, masyadong maraming tao ang nasaktan. Walang nanalo, e, talo lahat. Natalo siya, natalo ako, nasaktan ang mga anak ko, nasaktan siya... Wala. Sino ang nanalo? Wala. Ang nangyari lang, may divine mercy na gumitna at nagtanggol sa mga anak ko."
KILLER TASK AND KILLER QUESTION. In the "Central Jury" portion of Showbiz Central, the guest is always asked to choose between "killer task" and "killer question." However, the guest has the option not to do the "killer task" or answer the "killer question." Nadia was all game though and she chose not only one but both of the challenges.
For the "killer question," Nadia was asked to reveal the reason of her rumored ugly confrontation with Gretchen which happened early this year at Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City (Click here to read related article ).
Nadia couldn't give the exact details, but she still managed to explain that, "Hindi naging maganda ang nangyari dahil pareho kaming nagsalita ng masasakit sa isa't isa. Pero, siguro, ang matindi doon ay noong nagkamurahan kami. Hindi ko naman puwedeng sabihin kung ano 'yong mura, di ba? So, 'yon, nagkamurahan kami."
Lastly, for the killer task, Nadia was ordered to end her supposed rift with former actress Rochelle Barrameda, who was on the phone at that time.
While reading the instruction, Nadia already clarified that she never had a misunderstanding with Rochelle. So, when Rochelle came through the line, Nadia immediately asked, "Nagkatampuhan ba tayo, mare?"
Rochelle answered, "Hindi naman. 'Yon, e, tayo lang naman ang nakakaalam talaga kung ano ang totoong bagay-bagay. Ang importante is okey tayo."
She then described the kind of friend Nadia is to her. "Kahit naman hindi tayo nagkikita in person... Si Nadia kasi lagi niya akong tsine-check up kung okey ako, 'yong mommy ko. Kahit talagang hindi kami nagkikita, sinasabi niya, talagang tsine-check niya kung kumusta na ang kalagayan ko. At saka doon ko rin talaga nalaman na may problem pala siya sa heart. Sana okey ka na, mare."
