It's official! Sina John Lloyd Cruz at Sarah Geronimo ang itinanghal na Box-Office King and Queen for 2008 mula sa pamunuan at 15 judges na nag-deliberate para sa 26 categories and six special awards ng Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Awards, na nasa 40th year na ng pagbibigay ng awards na tinawag nilang Box-Office Entertainment Awards.
Bukod sa pagiging Box-Office Queen ni Sarah—dahil sa pinakamalaking box-office return ng first movie team-up nila ni John Lloyd na A Very Special Love ng Star Cinema—tatanggap din si Sarah ng dalawa pang awards: ang Female Concert Performer of the Year para sa kanyang SRO The Next One concert sa Araneta Coliseum at Female Recording Artist of the Year sa kanyang double-platinum album na The Next One.
Ang bagong pasok sa showbiz na si KC Concepcion ay tatanggap din ng tatlong awards: Princess of Philippine Movies & TV, Most Promising Female Star of Movies & TV, at New Female Recording Artist of the Year (Most Promising Singer).
Na-maintain naman ni Richard Gutierrez ang special award bilang Valentine Box Office-King. This time, binigyan din si Marian Rivera ng title na Valentine Box-Office Queen dahil sa success ng 2008 Valentine movie nila na My Best Friend's Girlfriend ng GMA Films at Regal Entertainment.
Ang pagbibigay ng title na Box-Office King & Queen kina John Lloyd at Sarah ay mula sa top film grosses nationwide from January to December 2008.
