"You know, the best thing about going to the school para sa akin is you learn how to learn. Oo, totoo. 'Tsaka you realized ang dami-dami mo pang matutunan.

Kahapon [March 28], I took one of the hardest days in my life, pero one of the most fulfilling. Wala akong diploma for my undergrad course. I didn't graduate from the Ateneo [University]. Bakit?

"Last year, I got into the ETEEAP [Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program]. It's an equivalency program.

"Anyway, what is it? It is a program that evaluates your work experience and evaluates it very, very carefully and sees how many of which can be turned into academic units. Kasi marami akong kulang bago grumadweyt. Wala akong Math, wala akong ROTC.

"So, last year, I went into that program. So, nag-submit ako. Lahat, lahat ginawa ko. Ang hirap. I went through all the requirements of the ETEEAP program and then I took some subjects to complete the undergrad, kasi kumukuha na ako ng Masteral. Bawal nga 'yan, e. Pinagsabay ko yun. Kaya it was really tough.

"Kahapon [Saturday], I took my validating exams for ComArts. I submitted my thesis. I did my thesis for the undergrad. Tinapos ko lahat 'yan kahapon. Nagpalitrato ako nang may toga. At the same time, doon naman sa aking International Relations on Public Diplomacy, natapos ko yung aking second term kahapon din. 'Yan yung Masteral.

Ngayon, ang mangayayari, April 4, I'm graduating.

"Ateneo cooperated here, ha," sabi niya. "Kasi nung nag-e-equivalency program ako, kinailangan ko lahat ng officially certified units from the Ateneo. So, Ateneo Registrar, maraming, maraming salamat talaga. Lahat, etc. So, I don't want to deny that kasi I'm very close to the Ateneo community. But I'm also very grateful to PWU for making this possible. Kaya ako nagpasalamat. Ngayon, April 4, I'm officially graduating."

THE GRADUATE. A-attend ba siya ng graduation niya?

"Wala ako rito, e. I'm out of town. I'm officially graduating from my undergrad course of ComArts. Ngayon, ang choice ko, dalawa. I can continue with my masteral on International Relations on Public Diplomacy or, ang balak ko, makipag-usap sa Ateneo if I can take my masteral studies on Communication Arts, ganun. Gusto ko mag-aral lang. Gusto ko talaga.

NOOD KA MUNA!

"Iba, e. I work on a lot of jobs. I went through a lot of shows. I went through a lot of experiences in life and I thought I learned so much. But I realized that the scholastic discipline of going to school is different. Iba pa rin.

"Maganda yung pagtagpuin at paghaluin.

"Masaya. Parang... No, eventually, I really want to teach. Gusto ko tapusin ko muna yung masteral. Hindi ko pa alam as of now kung saan itutuloy, kasi hindi ko kayang pagsabayin yung Masteral ng International Relations on Public Diplomacy and ComArts. Pinag-iisipan ko ngayon 'yan in the next few months. Nakakatuwa.

"Sabi nga ni Kris [Aquino] kanina, di ba, 'Walang edad, walang panahon.' You can.

THE THESIS. Ano ang nilalaman ng thesis niya?

"Ang thesis namin sa Diplomacy, kasi yung thesis namin sa Diplomacy every term has a paper. Madugo. Yung thesis ko ng Diplomacy, yung paper namin ay Comparative Study of Asian Countries on Environmental Diplomacies. Mahirap.

"So, ang thesis, pinag-aralan yung strength and weaknesses ng environmental policies ng mga bayan, gaya ng Pilipinas, South China, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, etc. Eight countries, tapos iko-compare mo ngayon ang iba't ibang elemento, the different elements of environmental diplomacy.

"Halimbawa, Singapore used to be a part of Malaysia. So, pati ang tubig niyan, elektrisidad, comes from Malaysia. Do you know that because of the need, natatandaan ninyo there was a time nung pinutol ng Malaysia ang supply nila sa Singapore ng tubig, kasi di ba? Now, it's an independent state na ang Singapore. Did you know that Singapore now has mastered, has perfected the desalination process, making salt water into potable water? Kasi, wala na silang tubig.

"Ay, bahagi 'yan ng research ko. 'Yang comparative study na 'yan will allow the reader to compare eight countries in Asia on the strength and weaknesses pagdating sa environment. Naku, manlulumo kayo kapag nakita ninyo ang Pilipinas! Malaki ang problema natin sa environment, but we are not the worst.

"Yung pangalawang thesis ko naman, nakakatawa pero ang hirap gawin, yung Comparing Values to the Viewing Public Through the Show Boy & Kris. Ganun katagal. May Boy & Kris pa. Kahapon ko lang isinabmit. It's very hard. How do you communicate values to the morning show Boy & Kris? Hard!

You know my contract with ABS-CBN doesn't allow me to get into politics. And I'm not going into politics. Hindi ako nagsasalita ng patapos, but of course my family is into politics. But if we're talking about 2010, I'm not running," deklara niya.

What about in 2013?

"I don't know," sagot ni Boy. "Kami ni Kris, we joked about it. But I don't know where the wind is gonna blow. I don't know here the wind is gonna bring us, di ba? 'Tsaka masarap pakinggan ang pagkakataon... I don't know.

Interesado ako eventually sa pagtuturo...sa pagpro-produce because I'm preparing for my third show.

Bottomline is the working title. Kasi I was very busy with my thesis. Kahapon nakakatawa, yung validating."

THE PATH HE WILL TAKE. So, pahinga siya this summer?

Kung itutuloy ko yung diplomatic studies ko or I'll go for masteral education on ComArts para...

"Ang problema ko naman sa CommArts, I don't want to be bored because that's what we're doing. I don't want to be bored. I'm excited with Diplomacy because it's a foreign territory, pero mahirap talaga siya. Hindi siya madali.

"This summer, ia-assess ko lahat ng aking desisyon. Pero June, papasok ako ulit. Alam mo, hindi ko naramdaman na one year and three months ako pumapasok. At saka perfect attendance ako, ha. Wala akong absent.

"Sabado, umaga, nagigising ako. Five hours in school. Wala akong ano, 'tsaka desidido ako. Nung first sem, sabi ni Ambassador Manalo, lahat ng perfect attendance may not take the final exam. Sabi ko doon sa coordinator, 'No. I wanna take the final exam.' Totoo, kasi ayoko ng kulang.

"Gusto ko subukan ang sarili ko. I want to take the final exam. Nung sinabi, 'Who wants to defend their thesis first?'

Gusto ko sanang um-attend ng graduation, but I have a commitment."

But, puwede na akong magturo because I already have a diploma and masteral units, di ba? Ang sarap! And may experience."

May plano ba siyang maging ambassador?

"Puwede rin but I need to study more. Kasi puwede kang political appointee. Alam mo, ba bago ka maging consul general, halimbawa, bago ako maging ambassador, siguro you have to spend about 20 to 25 years. Ganun kahirap.

"All countries send career diplomats. Kaya gusto ko pang mag-aral nang husto. Balang-araw, halimbawa, kung magiging ambassador ako may pinanggagalingan ako."

Gusto niya yung ganung idea?

"I'm open to that. By that time, I [would be] able to pay back the country that has been so kind to me," pagtatapos ni Boy.
