(UPDATED) BB Gandanghari reportedly denied entry in bar and restaurant for "cross-dressing"

BB Gandanghari was reportedly denied entry in a bar and restaurant in Metrowalk, Pasig City, because of cross-dressing. "What special right does [name of bar and restaurant] have that they can just force human beings to conform their gender expression to the gender expression traditionally associated with their assigned sex at birth?" wrote BB on her blog entry.

Sa ibaba ng listahan ng kanilang dress code ay nakasulat ang paalala na ito: "Management reserves the right to refuse entry to those who are inappropriately dressed, threat to security, mentally depraved, incorrigibly uncool."

"'Rules,' Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, 'are not necessarily sacred, principles are."' The incident that happened to me and my friends on the night of April 23 is an example of rules violating the principles which motivate humanity to live in equality, to treat each other with respect, and to uphold each other's dignity.

"I was all set to watch Rannie Raymundo's show in Metrowalk. Dee and my assistant Sass were with me. I didn't know where exactly in Metrowalk the show would be. So while I was on my way, I texted Maegan, who would also be watching with us. She told me that it was going to be in Aruba Bar and Restaurant.

"Upon hearing that it was going to be there, Sass brought up the unfortunate incident Inday Garutay [a standup comedian] experienced there. I heard it before but I didn't know that it happened there. Feeling worried, I requested Sass to ask Aruba Bar and Restaurant whether they have any problem with me watching the show.

"Sass talked to the bouncer of Aruba Bar and Restaurant but she was then referred to the manager. She asked Sass: "What is she wearing?" Sass told her that I was wearing what every woman wears.

"The manager then reiterated the blatant 'No Crossdressing' policy hanging on their door. Sass refused to accept her reasoning. The manager then offered to consult the owner of the bar.

"The manager returned and gave a compromise: We can stay outside of Aruba Bar and Restaurant. Sass left and narrated what she was told. We left Metrowalk and transferred into a bar that understands that bigotry is not a sound business strategy.

"I have felt perhaps the same feeling Rosa Parks felt when she was asked to give up her seat so a white passenger could sit. We, and countless human beings like me, suffered and continue suffering the same indignity of discrimination:

"Rosa Parks was discriminated because of her skin color; human beings of transgender experience are being discriminated because of their gender identity, the deeply felt internal and individual experience of gender, which of course does not always match the sex assigned by the doctors upon our birth.

"I wasn't demanding any special treatment from them. I was just there looking forward to enjoy the music and performance of Rannie, just like any other human being inside their bar.

"Certainly, I dressed up as a woman because I am a woman. If I dressed up in a masculine way, that would be the time that I would be crossdressing. But let's discard all the labels, it's not the issue.

Cross dress all you want BB but just be sure na you should still be respectable pa din sa mga kinikilos at sinasabi mo.

If you want tell your gay friends cross dresser or not to boycott the place since feel mo nga e nandidiscriminate sila.

Please, Rustom, you're no Rosa Parks. With that aside, I think rules are rules. Entry to such places is a privilege, not a right. Ok? Peace.

So please brother Rustom if you are able to follow our LORD SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST please do so by Repenting your sins, accept JESUS CHRIST in your heart and stop sinning. You said in one of your interview that our GOD see our Heart. Yes HE does! Especially if our heart is following HIS WILL. I maybe sound something to you that you may not like but it's ok! I am a Christian also therefor i know what is being a follower of JESUS CHRIST!I'm not discriminating you. Many born again Cristians just like you, married and stay married to woman and have children. They are our role model. They follow the WORD OF our HOLY GOD. By being an example to other we need to do or show that our faith and action are consisted, as their role model to CHRIST JESUS to other fellows that eventhough we are gay we are able to follow GOD'S WILL by not changing what HE HAS GIVEN OR HE IS giving us.Please remember that our saviour LORD JESUS pay a very highest price for our freedom. I pray for you and wish that one day we watch you on T.V.

lolz summit. name-calling is used here to suggest those emotionally-charged words, sneering, mocking, derogatory names, slurs, insults applied to other persons. we may not agree or like another but no need to raise hell with him or her or call another names.

smile, ok. life is fleeting. and beautiful. lolz

Brother Rustom! I'm sorry to hear that news about you! But really if we are Christian means follower of our saviour LORD JESUS CHRIST in the HOLY BIBLE HE taught us how to pray there is a quote in MATTHEW 6:9-13 quot;OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME. YOUR KINGDOM COME. YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN......This is very clear that our FATHER'S WILL is the one very important that we need to follow not our own will. He carefully knitted you in your mother's womb as a man and not a woman! I'm not sound as your judge because we have only one Judge and that is our HOLY FATHER. I'm only trying to explain to you what is being a Christian we need to follow our guide JESUS CHRIST! You heard that our saviour JESUS faitfully follows our HOLY GOD FATHER'S WILL till the end. HE didn't follow HIS own WILL while HE'S on Earth and even in Heaven HE or we follows GOD'S WILL.
