Naghain ng petition ang actress-TV host na si Ruffa Gutierrez sa Quezon City Regional Trial Court para sa custody ng kanyang dalawang anak na sina Lorin, 5, at Venice, 4. Ang defendant sa naturang petition ay ang estranged husband ni Ruffa na si Yilmaz Bektas, isang Turkish businessman.
Ayon sa report ng GMA News, ang kaso na naka-file bilang Civil Case No. Q-09-64795 ay naka-assign na sa sala ni QCRTC Branch 107 Presiding Judge Jose Bautista, Jr. Ganunpaman, hindi isiniwalat ang nilalaman ng petition dahil ang kaso ay nasa ilalim ng jurisdiction ng isang family court.
Ngunit napag-alaman mula mismo sa sala ni Judge Bautista na ang summons ay naipadala na kay Yilmaz sa kanyang tahanan sa Istanbul, Turkey, kung saan ipinapaalam ng korte ang petition na isinampa laban sa kanya ni Ruffa.
Aalamin pa raw ng korte kung ang kaso ay nasa ilalim ng jurisdiction nila o kung hindi ito dismissible bago sila mag-schedule ng hearing.
Ikinasal sina Ruffa at Yilmaz sa pamamagitan ng isang magarbong seremonyas noong March 25, 2003 sa The Fort, Taguig City. Pero noong May 8, 2007 ay inanunsiyo nila ang kanilang "mutual decision" na tapusin na ang kanilang pagsasama pagkatapos ng apat na taon.
Bumalik sa Pilipinas si Ruffa, kasama ang kanyang dalawang anak, upang ipagpatuloy ang kanyang showbiz career.
May ilang reports na nagsasabi na nag-file na diumano si Ruffa ng annulment ng kanilang kasal ni Yilmaz, ngunit wala pang petition for annulment ang nai-file.
Kasalukuyang napapanood si Ruffa sa daily morning show na Ruffa and Ai at sa Sunday showbiz talk show na The Buzz sa ABS-CBN.
