Billy Crawford just turned 27 last Saturday, May 16, and he had a blast during his celebration on A.S.A.P '09 Sunday, May 17.
Nainterview muna siya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) bago siya pumunta sa launch ng Fly, the newest scent from Human, which he is endorsing, at the Trinoma activity center.
"Pahinga lang talaga ako [during my birthday], but Nikki [Gil] surprised me," bungad ni Billy. "We had dinner together. Yun din lang talaga ang gusto ko, to be with her and my family, pero wala kasi ang family ko rito.
"I thought everybody wasn't here, pero na-surprise ako ni Nik. Gusto niyang mag-dessert after dinner, e, kailangang maaga kaming umuwi 'cause maaga ang call time sa A.S.A.P., right? In one spot, [where we were] to have dessert, nagulat ako dahil naroroon ang buong pamilya niya!
"Sa Tagaytay pa kami nag-dinner. Hindi ko pa alam ang iba pa niyang gifts. Sabi niya, marami pang surprise. Blessed na ako. No matter what happens, sobrang happy ako. Wala na akong gustong hingin."
Then he speaks of his father. "At saka yung condition ng dad ko, sana, he will be better this year. We just have to expect for the worst sa buhay natin. Sa buhay kasi, kung laging may up, mayroon ding down. Maging ready lang sana tayo.
"No matter what it is, alam ko, I'm still blessed. I should be happy. Kaya wala nang dapat pang hingin o i-reklamo. Ang wish ko talaga kasi, to be with my mon and dad sa birthday ko. Pero, para sa akin, better health lang," nangingiting sabi pa niya.
Isa rin sa wini-wish ni Billy, yung matanggap siya ng mga tao, kahit ano pa ang gawin niya, basta sa ikasisiya ng lahat.
"Tanggap pa rin naman ako, pero dalawang buwan kasi akong nawala," sabi pa ni Billy. "Pumunta ako sa States kasama nina Sarah [Geronimo]. First time kong mag-perform kasama ng TFC [The Filipino Channel] subscribers.
"Pagbalik ko, wala lang, parang hindi naman ako umalis. Noong mag-perform ako uli rito, naramdaman ko na naroroon pa rin ang tiwala ng mga tao sa akin.
"Proud naman ako. Nare-revive ang career ko sa U.S., and at the same time, may bago akong album na ini-release ng MCA Universal, yung Groove. Pero, nagre-recording pa rin ako ng bago, with a couple of people from the States.
"Then, may three songs pa from France, which is another territory, para mag-comeback ako. Mahirap din kasing mag-decide, e. Once na ma-in love ka rito, ang hirap nang umalis uli."
Stay muna sa 'Pinas si Billy, for as long as he wants. Pero, paano na ang kanyang U.S. career?
"Before Christmas, I will be finished with the album," paliwanag niya. "Maybe, going a bit back and forth. Yung ginawa ko lang kasi, na nag-approve ang mom and dad ko, gawin ko nang homebase ang Philippines."
Billy begs to disagree na open book na ang relasyon nila ni Nikki.
"Sa relasyon kasi, I always believe to keep it private," nangingiting banggit ni Billy. "Hindi lang kasi sila ang involved. Public na nga kami, pero the whole Philippines is involved, pati na U.S. We think of our families kasi.
