GMA-7 chooses "not to pass judgment on the truthfulness of the complaint" regarding its star Aljur Abrenica, who was accused of committing lascivious acts by a 13-year-old girl yesterday, June 2.

Aljur met Michelle, name of the complainant, in Puerto Galera last Holy Week. Allegedly, on two occasions, April 10-11, the 19-year old actor harassed Michelle by touching sensitive parts of her body. The girl claimed that the incidents were witnessed by her sister and a friend.

In a May 7 article published  in PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Aljur denied that he knows the girl personally.

"Dalawang araw po kami doon [sa Puerto Galera]. Kasama ko po ang barkada kong sina Moymoy Palaboy, at na-meet namin ang barkada nila [ng dalaga]. Ang alam nga namin, mga promodizer [promo girls] sila dahil may ibinebenta silang mga products doon. Dahil maliit lang naman ang Puerto Galera, sa two days na nandoon kami, lagi kaming nagkikita, barkada ko at barkada nila. Pero hanggang doon lang po 'yon," Aljur said.

Aljur is scheduled to appear at the NBI office today, June 3, to formally answer the harassment charge.

GMA-7's OFFICIAL STATEMENT. At present, GMA-7 is also conducting its own investigation. Its statement, sent via e-mail at 1:07 p.m. today, reads:

"GMA Network understands that the NBI is conducting its investigation of the complaint filed against Aljur Abrenica. The Network wants to assure the public that the company will not tolerate the acts of which Aljur is being charged. GMA Network on its own is looking into the veracity of the complaint. Until the results of the NBI's and the Network's own investigation are known, it is only fair to Aljur for the Network not to pass judgment on the truthfulness of the complaint."
