Masuwerte ang baguhang si Kurt Dreo dahil first TV project pa lang niya ay leading man na agad siya ni Rochelle Pangilinan sa Season 23 ng Daisy Siete, ang "Chacha Muchacha."
Ano ang pakiramdam ni Kurt na siya ang bagong leading man ni Rochelle?
"Siyempre, masaya ako, napapanood ko siya dati. It's a big opportunity para sa akin, big break talaga sa akin ito, so yun. I'll do my best...para sa show na ito," nakangiting sabi ni Kurt sa panayam sa kanya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa presscon ng "Chacha Muchacha."
Ano naman ang naramdaman niya noong first taping day nila?
"Siyempre, as a baguhan na tulad ko dito sa industriya ng showbiz, kinabahan talaga ako nun. Nung una medyo nahirapan din ako. Buti tinutulungan ako nila, like yung mga kasamahan kong artista, the director, and everyone sa set. Tinuturuan nila ako na ganito dapat, mga ganun. Okay silang katrabaho, hindi sila mahirap katrabaho," sabi ni Kurt, na may dugong Persian, Italian, at Pinoy.
"Yung dad ko, half-Persian, half-Italian, yung mom ko, pure Filipina," banggit niya. "Dito ako ipinanganak sa Pilipinas, dito rin ako lumaki. Kaya fluent akong mag-Tagalog."
Bago pinasok ni Kurt ang showbiz ay naging modelo muna siya.
"Actually, I started doing modeling here in the Philippines, and commercials also. I started modeling dito three years ago. Okay naman, tuluy-tuloy. Tapos 'eto, nabigyan ako ng malaking break, being a leading man of Rochelle.
"Pinaka-biggest commercial ko, yung lead role ko is Asus Laptop, which is worldwide yung coverage. Sa TV, yung MTV ni Gretchen Baretto, leading man niya ako, yung 'Ready To Take The Chance Again.' Meron din akong nagawang billboards, like yung Gibi Shoes, yung kay Nadine Samonte, then Burger King, mga ganun," kuwento ni Kurt.
May sinalihan na rin ba siyang contests before?
"Sumali ako dati sa Bodyshots, pero hindi ko itinuloy," sabi niya. "'Eto, last year lang. Nagkaroon kasi ng problema that time, may mga conflict sa schedules, may mga work ako. So ang nangyari, me and my manager decided to quit kasi medyo mahihirapan din ako. Kasi yung schedule ko, hectic. Medyo conflict din sa Bodyshots."
Paano siya napasok sa Daisy Siete?
"Yung manager ko, yung sa Icon Modeling Agency, sabi niya sa akin meron daw big break. So, pina-submit niya yung picture ko, at nagustuhan daw ako ng mga taga Daisy Siete, ni Ms. Joy Cancio [manager and producer]. Sinabihan ako na subukan ko daw mag-audition.
"And one time may taping ng Daisy Siete, pinapunta ako dun sa location. So yun, nag-audition ako, nagbasa ako ng script. Ayun, nagustuhan nila, pinabalik nila ako. Tatawagan daw nila kapag okay na daw. After a few days, tinawagan nila ang manager ko, na magpakita daw ako, pumasa daw ako! Pinapunta ako sa pictorial, and yun, dun na nag-start," lahad niya.
Twenty-four years old si Kurt. Bakit noong teenager pa lang siya ay hindi niya sinubukan pumasok sa showbiz?
"Actually, dati hindi ko talaga balak mag-showbiz, gusto ko lang modeling," sabi niya. "Twenty-one ako nag-start mag-model. Kasi dati, inuna ko muna yung pag-aaral ko. Tinapos ko muna ang studies ko, sa Adamson, Information Technology. So nung graduating na ako, dun ko lang ini-start yung modeling.
"Nung nag-aaral ako, never akong nag-modeling. May mga offers, pero ayaw ng dad ko. Unang-una, medyo conservative din yung family namin, ayaw niya sa modeling, at inuna ko muna yung pag-aaral ko."
Ipalalabas na sa July 20 ang "Chacha Muchacha" sa GMA-7.
