The see-saw battle for the weekday primetime race between ABS-CBN and GMA-7 intensifies.

It seems that no TV network will back down from the fight for primetime supremacy, based on the latest overnight ratings of AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households. In fact, no show occupied the same slot in the Top 5 twice last July 24 and July 27.

The No. 1 primetime program last July 24 was ABS-CBN's Tayong Dalawa, with fellow Kapamilya shows May Bukas Pa and Only You occupying the second and third positions, respectively.

GMA-7's 24 Oras and Zorro, meanwhile, took the No. 4 and No. 5 slots.

However, the Kapuso network quickly recovered last night, July 27, and took over the top two slots—24 Oras at No. 1 and Zorro at No. 2.

The top three programs last Friday slipped to the following positions: May Bukas Pa (No. 3), Tayong Dalawa (No. 4), and Only You (No. 5).

This is also the case for the remaining slots in the Top 10, where no show occupied the same position twice.

Rosalinda came in sixth last July 24 and seventh last July 27; Adik Sa 'Yo finished at No. 7 last July 24 and at No. 9 last July 27; TV Patrol World was in 8th place last July 24 and in 6th place last July 27; The Wedding placed ninth last July 24; All My Life tied with Cruel Love at No. 10 last July 24 and took the No. 8 slot last July 27; and Boys Over Flowers finished 10th last July 27.

In short, no particular show rules the primetime race or has a comfortable lead. It may be displaced in its position at any given time.

In contrast, it is safe to say that the weekday daytime race belongs to GMA-7.

The country's longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga! remains the No. 1 daytime program, followed consistently by Kapuso soap Kung Aagawin Mo ang Lahat Sa Akin at No. 2.

The rest of the Top 5 is being fought by GMA-7 soaps Ngayon at Kailanman and Daisy Siete, and ABS-CBN's noontime show Wowowee.

Due to the coverage of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's final (ninth)  State of the Nation Address (SONA) yesterday, July 27, the battle for the remaining Top 10 slots was somehow affected.

Last July 24, the sixth to tenth place were occupied by the following programs in this order: Kambal Sa Uma, Hole In The Wall, Hunter X Hunter, Chil Princesses, and Pilipinas, Game KNB?.

The SONA coverage of both GMA-7 and ABS-CBN entered the Top 10 last July 27. GMA-7's State of the Nation Address was at No. 6 while ABS-CBN's Pangulong Arroyo: Ang Huling SONA came at No. 8.
