Kung mga yellow ribbon ang itinanim sa damuhan sa harap ng Aquino Museum sa Hacienda Luisita sa Tarlac bilang pagluluksa sa pagpanaw ni former President Corazon Aquino, mga maliliit na black ribbon naman ang nakatanim sa damuhan sa harap ng Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) dahil ipinagluluksa ng mga miyembro ng Concerned Artists of the Philippines at ng past National Artists awardees ang mga bagong hirang na mga Pambansang Alagad ng Sining ng administrasyon ni President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Nagtipon kahapon, August 7, sa harap ng CCP ang mga direktor, artista, estudyante at ang mga National Artists na nagmamalasakit sa National Artists Awards na diumano'y "binaboy " ni Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, ang executive director ng National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) at pararangalan ng Malacañang Palace bilang National Artist for Theater.
Namataan namin sa CCP crowd ang mag-asawang Laurice Guillen at Johnny Delgado, Bibeth Orteza at Carlos Siguion-Reyna, Armida Siguion-Reyna, ang mga direktor na sina Joey Reyes, Joel Lamangan, Mark Meily, Adolf Alix, Jr., Leo Martinez at ang magkapatid na Imee Marcos at Irene Araneta.
Ayon kay Imee, nagpunta siya sa lamay at prusisyon para sa National Artists Awards bilang pakikiisa sa mga nagmamahal sa sining na biktima ng pamumulitika.
Ikinuwento ni Imee na ang kanyang ina, si Mrs. Imelda Marcos, ang nag-umpisa ng National Artists Awards kaya masakit para sa kanya na makita na napulitika ang pagpili sa mga bagong National Artist.
Ipinagtapat ni Imee na walang mangyayari sa protest rally na ginanap sa CCP dahil bulag at manhid ang Arroyo administration pero importante raw na naipakita ng mga alagad ng sining ang kanilang pagkakaisa.
Nagpahayag din si Imee ng kasiyahan nang malaman nito na marami ang natuwa sa kanila ng kanyang kapatid na si Bongbong dahil sa pakikiramay nila sa naulilang pamilya ni former President Cory Aquino.
Nagpunta ang magkapatid sa Manila Cathedral noong Martes at ang panganay na anak ni Mrs. Aquino na si Ballsy Cruz ang humarap sa kanila ni Bongbong.
Sinabi ni Imee na magkaibigan sila ni Ballsy noong mga bata pa sila at sincere ang pakikiramay nila ni Bongbong sa pamilya Aquino.
Tulad ni Imee, dumalo sa protest rally sa CCP si Irene dahil hindi ito pabor sa mga bagong hirang na National Artists ng pamahalaang Arroyo. Naniniwala si Irene na hindi dumaan sa wastong proseso ang pagpili kina Alvarez at Carlo Caparas.
